In my most recent job, I was in private security working in the field of executive protection and event security. During a routine shift my main task was to utilize my conflict de-escalation tactics. One of the skills I acquired working in this field was the art of verbal judo, or using one's words to prevent, de-escalate, or end an attempted assault. It is a way of using words as a way to maintain mental and emotional safety.
As someone who has previously been through the juvenile correction system as a teen, I know first hand the struggles some
of these teens are facing. After fulfilling my commitment to the Marines and to my country, i now have the platform to empower those who stand in the shoes I was once in.
