Personal Narrative: A Midsummer's Night Dream
Right from when I was a child, I was known to people as friendly, sociable and very communicative. All shades of performing could be found in me. One of the long time influences is my second grade teacher - Ms. King, she encouraged me to be confident and bold because I was the only black student in her class at the Banjul American Embassy School, The Gambia. The bank my father worked with transferred him to The Gambia. The grade school and the middle school do functions together due to the small size of the school. During our Christmas Carol, we all auditioned for the soloist role and I got the lead role. Wow! Such a gratifying experience and that obviously built my confidence and increased my “I can do it” attitude. The encouragement I received was overwhelming from my teachers, family and people generally and this brought out my latent gift in the world of entertainment. The support I was given, propelled me to do more and this earned me a role in the popular Shakespeare play “A Midsummer’s Night Dream”. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this …show more content…

The joy and the stories from my older sister who is a senior in Chemical Engineering is enough to know that Howard University is a great place to learn and grow in all

I am Kaitlyn Luepann and I am portraying the fairy attendants Peaseblossom, Bottom, Cobweb, and the “jester fairy” Puck From William Shakespeare’s play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” I will be portraying all these characters as one character with characteristics of all four. The ways I am going to adapt the characters that I am portraying are for me to have a witty sense of humour, yet have common courtesy and manners, and have respectful body language and a humourous tone of voice because the three fairy attendants are very respectful, but Puck is humourous. How I adapt all of the fairies body language and tone of voice from the play to the modern day is to be a respectful Starbucks worker, who cracks jokes in a funny manner while customers…

This play is about a love triangle how one loves the other when the other does not like them until finally it all ends in a resolution, as they have a secret fairy world looking over at them, this play is almost like a mix between the fantasy world and the real! Bottom is one of the characters in this play, and in this play Bottom is a humorous and confident character, although being intelligent in other fields Bottom is not a very clever or educated man. Bottom and his fellow workmates are named the “rude mechanicals”, unsophisticated men but rather great tradesmen, working not with the mind but with the hands, though Bottom may be labeled a “rude mechanical” in many…

Throughout the past two years at Staten Island Academy, this learning environment has given me many opportunities that I could not have gotten at any other school. I'm not the most athletic, but I do very much enjoy playing sports. Here at the Academy middle school, I was able to experience any sport that I wanted to play, without a tryout system. The music and theater program here has given me countless opportunities to better my skills as an actor and a baritonist. I have been able to act in two plays, "Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr." and "Cyrano deBurgershack." They helped me learn the ins and outs of acting, as I was a beginner before I came to the Academy. In the orchestra, I have appeared in 5 concerts, all of which have been immensely successful thanks to our conductor, Ms. Wheatley. There have also been many truly amazing teachers that have guided me to academic success. Specifically, Mr. Levine helps me to understand…

By following his heart and becoming an actor, Ricardo Pitts-Wiley took a risk. Acting is a profession known for having low pay and employment, but ever since he stepped on stage in his junior year performance, he knew he must continue down this road (94). Once he found employment with Trinity Repertory, Ricardo began doubting his qualifications. The questions “Why didn’t I get all the gifts? Why can’t I sing? Why can’t I do certain things better?” began creeping into his mind (95). Through his introspection, he realized he did not need to perfect every portion of a performance. Through collaboration, Ricardo was able to achieve his other aspirations and reconcile with the fact he would not perfect every aspect of a performance, but would excel in the parts where he…

In one of Shakespeare’s famous plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the mischievous fairy Puck plays a role like no other. Although he has minor parts in this playwright, his personality and foolish traits make him admirable to readers. A perfect actor to cast the role of Puck I believe would be Joe Pesci, an American actor and comedian of the 20th century. Pesci shares his foolish and witless personality with the character of Puck and fits his role in many ways. The casting of Joe Pesci as Puck can be justified by their unique similarities.…

OPRF high school is brimming with diverse cliques, groups, and clubs. But one particular cohort seems to stand out from the rest. The theatre department, overseen by Michelle Bayer, can be described as a whirlwind of activity, with 10 official productions each year. My group researched it for the education unit, but the majority of them were unfamiliar with the activity, and I felt the overall presentation was unrepresentative of what high school theatre is. It can be characterized, primarily, by an abundance of drama, both in the acting sense, and in the social sense. Theatre kids are infamous for their diva-like attitudes, and occasional entitlement. I had the opportunity to observe these behaviors up close and personal with my shows I participated in this year.…

Love is one of the most immense feelings a human can experience. Love is a deep tender feeling of affection and attachment and devotion to another person. Countless people experience love, both, as non-romantic with their families and romantic love with a special person who comes into their life. When people are on the expedition for love, people may become blindsided by infatuation or what is commonly referred to as lust. Infatuation is being completely carried away by a foolish or shallow affection. Individuals can accept infatuation instead of love, or they cannot tell the difference between the two. One of the many themes in A Midsummer Night’s Dream is love vs. infatuation. Love is stronger, no matter what the circumstance may be.
