Personal Narrative: Adele's Spiritual Journey
My (Adele’s) spiritual journey, a time to seek the Lord, a time to heal, and a time to experience oneness with Christ Jesus. I have mournfully and spiritually died and been revitalized—through the blood of Jesus. For this, I thank to the Lord. My journey has been spiritually awakening and transforming. Understanding the meaning of Christianity did not develop overnight. Unfortunately, I really thought being born again meant all my life struggles would disappear—immediately. Regrettably, during each of my worldly life events I was angry with God. And during my most challenging life events I would seek advised from my pastor. I remember asking my pastor, “Why am I going through this?” and he said “Try asking what the Lord wants you to learn?”. I must have asked the same question a million times and …show more content…
The noise in your head, of the world, the noise of whatever life event you are experiencing right now—just turn it off. Pray, be still, be calm, and be silent. Just for a moment stop the worldly race, the worldly competition of self-centeredness, and allow for the Lord to lead your spirit—He will remove your worldly misfortunes. Take time to focus on unity with One—learn to develop oneness with the Lord Jesus Christ. According to Thelma Wells (Moore, et al., 2003), you must have unity with Him first to have unity with others, “We need to understand the unity of the Spirit. Ephesians 4:4-5 says, ‘There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (p. 138). I pray that each individual classmate that takes time to read my post—hears Him today! Remember to be still, calm, and at peace—turn off the worldly noise and surrender every care to the Lord. Read and share, God’s Scriptural promises in Philippians

Part One of Elmer Towns’ Concise Bible Doctrines introduces Christian theology by outlining the key pieces of the doctrine to help the reader understand Christianity and faith. Towns begins by saying that the main purpose of Bible doctrine is to communicate the gospel to the people at a point of need. Every man has the same need because every man is cut off from God. Man is born with a sin nature, and because he is less than holy, he is isolated and alienated from God. Death is imminent for everyone, but God communicates through the Bible that through Jesus Christ, man can be saved. The word “gospel” means “good news.” It is the responsibility of every Christian to reach out in relationships to the unsaved in sharing this news, and to other Christians in fellowship. Christians are called to seek God, and study the Bible to learn to know Him better, and worship Him always. Proper worship of God requires faith; the source of which is the Bible. Doctrinal faith is the beginning and the test of Christianity. If our statement of faith is wrong, than our faith is misplaced. Our faith must be grounded on correct knowledge of God. However, intellectual knowledge of God is not enough. Emotional expression and volition are equally important. The Holy Spirit acts on behalf of Jesus Christ to plant faith in a Christian’s heart. He indwells us, and helps us exercise our faith daily. We can grow in our faith by studying God’s word, seeking the Lord, confessing sin, actively following biblical principles, and constantly communicating with God. Faith is ultimately a reliance and trust of God, and the Bible teaches us to rely on Him for everything.…

"We admire people to the extent that we cannot explain what they do, and the word admire then means marvel at." This quote by B. F. Skinner shows exactly how I idolize certain people. I admire those who can make me realize who I am, who understand where I stand on and who is not afraid to say what is on their minds. One incredible individual, who I have met recently, changed the way I looked at the world. Ms. Lena Parks has a different air around her that I do not find most in others. I applaud her for the discipline she imposed on herself to reach her goal, for her sense of humor, and for her individuality.…

Growing up as a missionary kid, my faith has been a primary source of discernment, and spiritual development. A large part of my identity comes my Baptist tradition, and I continue to be a part of this denominational affiliation as an adult. It was inside the walls of a Baptist church where I was first exposed to the liberating yet dangerous responsibility of the “priesthood of all believers” and “soul freedom,” and where I chose to follow Christ and experience salvation on a personal level.…

I have been in that place of darkness and defeat, but I see that light, I live in the light. I have been to secular counselor; I have taken my daughter to two counselors’ also. I know that I did not get my healing until I started going back to church and seeking and building my relationship with the Father. It has taken me the humility to go to my pastor’s and asking for prayer and help through the bible. I have a way to go, but I know I am where I am because of God’s help and prayer and supplication. My daughter got some help with the first counselor, but it was not what I had anticipated. The last sessions she went she honestly received no help or made any progress. She even voiced her opinion and said she would not return because there was no…

One of the most common struggles of pastoral work is ministering to people who come to church deflated, de-fused and defeated in their spiritual lives. Many people never muster up the courage to walk through the doors of a church because they’re afraid of what God may think about them, and many of those who actually do darken the doors of a church are all but convinced that they are dreadfully sinful people deserving of nothing more than God’s wrath and punishment.…
