Well before this all happened. Before we left to hang out with the boys. Before we knew. Before the world turned insane. Before everyone’s world turned upside down. Before my friends and I got here we had a normal life. We better start with this before we get to present day. I want you to know how amazing my life was before this new life. Addy, Isabel or as we call her Izzy, Lucy, and me were all spending the night at Isabel’s having a fun time while on our phones, sing karaoke, blaring music laughing our heads off, messing with boys on this weird website it’s been so long I no longer can remember. But I was texting Blake while he was with his besties at his house. When my our two groups get together it’s the best it’s only like 8-10 people but its absolutely insane and fun we play little kid games with a teenage twist nothing too bad because none of us want to lose our scholarships. We always play hide and go seek tag because we have a lot of room at Blake’s causes because he lives in the country. But don’t get us wrong bad things always happen in the dark. …show more content…

If given the opportunity to correct a mistake from my past, appreciating my curves in my childhood is the first slip up that comes to my mind. Rejecting my wide hips and thick thighs,I longed to have a slender figure not unlike my friends. Ultimately, I purchased one of Shaun T’s workout systems called “Insanity” in the seventh grade. Despite the obvious signs of exhaustion that my body exhibited, I kept pushing myself to endure three workouts a day. I set intangible goals for myself such as losing ten pounds a week. After three and a half months of consistently following Shaun T’s program, I was found heavily wheezing in my sleep during my mother’s nightly rounds to check on my siblings and I. Soon after, I began to feel claustrophobic, as…

Over the course of my long life (or lives depending on how you look at it) I have been known by many names. And not all of them translate exactly. My latest and last one is Gracen. I do not know how old I am, nor do I really care. All that matters is that I get two square meals a day and a warm bed at night. An occasional pet behind the ears is nice too. It’s times like this, late at night in my bed, when I reminisce back to where it all began.…

When I made it to my junior year, I thought I had already made my friends for life. I was not necessarily open to new relationships, and I was not overly social. I did all of the same things and did not bother branching out. Hannah Hennings and I first bonded on the night of homecoming. Neither of us had dates so we danced the night away and just had fun together. After that, Hannah and I started to hang out more and more, bonding even more through speech. In February of 2016, Hannah and I both participated in individual speech. She was participating in the poetry category, and I was participating in the prose category. We both helped each other in practice and gave each other tips to get better. Hannah made it all the way to All-State Speech with that…

It’s extraordinary to think about how we take so much for granted - another belief we take for granted is that every night the stars will shine. When you wake up in the morning and make plans for the day, you never really contemplate those plans changing entirely in the blink of an eye. I had never thought much about it, personally, until I was faced with Death himself. I don't think anyone really contemplates tragedy until it knocks on their front door. In fact, it doesn’t even knock – it forces itself in and threatens to leave you with nothing but heartache and suffering for the remainder of your miserable life. Traumatic events can occur in numerous ways, at any time in one’s life. Some are lucky enough to get away with them. Unfortunately, I was not one of the lucky.…

How could I have known when I dressed her in those cute butterfly tights and put her hair into two pigtails that I would never see her again? We walked to the park stopped for some ice cream at the stand right in front of the Empire State Building the one with the cute drawings on the sides that look like something Elizabeth would have drawn. She kept pulling at my hand, wanting to walk ahead, but I would not let her. I remember how the wind felt as if it was going to blow us away. I held onto her extra tight hoping that she would not fly away as if she was some piece of paper. We were at the park for about an hour when my phone rang and I looked down for just a few minutes. I’ve seen plenty of other parents do it.…

It was a perfectly normal Saturday night, until I sat on the couch. I expected to enjoy a funny movie with my dad, but instead I got a trip to the hospital. I sat on the couch, and then I felt a sting in my elbow. At first, it felt like I got a shot at the doctor, but it slowly got worse, and felt more like a knife slicing into my elbow. I winced and sprung up from the couch. I squinted and my eyes scanned the spot where I just sat down. Aha, I thought. There was a small piece of plastic, and it looked like it broke off from a container.…
