Personal Narrative-Cabin Twenty-Two On Catalina Island
I woke up on one of the top bunks in cabin twenty-two on Catalina Island at the Fox Landing. The other seven 6th grade girls in my group and our chaperone were still asleep.I was also still halfway asleep, but I put on my glasses, and sat up. One by one the others seven girls and our chaperone woke up. My chaperone behested that we wear our swimsuits, so we all got dressed in them . We also put shorts and a T-shirt on top of our swimsuits, so that we weren’t cold.
Later that morning, in the sunlit dining hall, breakfast was being severed. My group sat at the table we sat at the night before. As I started to eat my tater-tots , the events from yesterday filled my mind. My group went snorkeling, both day and night, I could still feel the cold water soak my wetsuit. I remembered that Mr. Lacey, our principal, announced that the school would be leaving today because of a storm. I was disappointed because I payed for three days instead of two,but at least I was having fun.
After an impeccable breakfast, my group’s instructor, Dan, taught us about fish. I even got to pet a shark!! We went tide pooling and caught a lot of crabs. Afterwards, my group went to lunch.
As all the groups stomachs wailed for lunch to be ready,Christena, one of the camps activity

We put on footies still wet from tide pooling, and life jackets, so if the kayak lips over then we won't drown. Then we got our oars. We were partnered up boy, girl. Dan taught us how to maneuver the kayak,a few peoples’ oars bumped into each other. Then my partner and I grabbed a green kayak, and bided until everyone else was in the water. Then, Dan schlepped our kayak to the shore, and told us to get in.I was shaking from all of the excitement. My partner got into the front, I went into the back. Then the waves started to get bigger and bigger and bigger , then finally, Dan pushed our kayak into the waves and we were off!! I was so excited I almost forgot to

We are fishing on a windy day, we hit a huge 4 foot wave head on and our Crestliner boat capsized. I quickly grabbed my backpack, in my backpack I had a marine radio, a survival kit, sunscreen, and some extra food. We swam to closest island call Bird Turd island. I looked back, all of my belonging were sinking to the bottom of the lake. We were shipwrecked! I was screaming and screaming and screaming for help but no one could hear me. I heard a boat so I screamed so more and no one was there. I was hoping someone was coming. I stayed there for what felt like hours, so I decided to walk around and look at the island. I came across and tiny little shed.…

It was Tuesday, March first, 2011, my mother woke me up so I can start getting ready for school. I rose with eager anticipation, just four more days until my thirteenth birthday and I just couldn’t wait. I brushed my teeth and hurried down to eat the complimentary breakfast offered to us by the hotel we were staying at. You see we had been staying at a hotel for the past five months because the home we had been renting was foreclosed on so the utility companies turned off the power and the electricity. We had to get down at just the right time so that there was a small crowd but a lot of food so that we can take food back to the room to save for dinner. After breakfast, we…

As soon as we got there My Uncle Shaun and I were put on tent duty. We didn’t have a camper, or a houseboat, so the most reasonable option was to bring tents! This side of my family doesn’t go camping much, so I found it very interesting that we were “tenting.” Mostly my uncle set up the tents, since I was about eleven and didn’t like to work. I mean, I still don't, who does? Anyways, because I had my swimming suit on, I found it very appealing to go for a swim. So I stepped in and I did not expect what I got! The water was warm, a whopping 80 degrees fahrenheit! I had never been in water so warm until I came here. Normally we go to lakes/reservoirs it’s usually Island Park, Jensen’s Grove, or American…

I was a camp counselor at Camp Wabikon ‒ a co-ed overnight summer camp located in Temagami, Ontario for children who are 6-15 years of age. Along with teaching Red Cross swimming and lifesaving and Tennis, I was my cabin's 'parent' for six weeks. Therefore, I was present with the children at all times. In essence, I was the leader of my cabin's the physical, social and mental development. The main things I learned were the importance of time management and organization , as I had to plan lessons for swimming and Tennis while taking care of my cabin; conflict resolution between campers; and the ability to plan and foresee events (I had to plan camp-wide events and activities for all campers).…

Up on the mountain tops, just past Payson and just before Strawberry, lies my home away from home. It’s the good old, Olson family cabin. Sitting at approximately 5300 feet elevation, Pine, Arizona is naturally 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix. It is not your typical log cabin. Rather, it is a small house with a large loft, almost as big as the house. It is surrounded by tall, rich green pine trees, and for that reason my family has dubbed it “the cabin.” The Olson family cabin has had a profound affect on my life because of the lessons it taught me growing up, the people I spent time there with, and the activities it has inspired.…

I had only gotten six hours of sleep. I didn’t want to get up but today is the day that I get to explore Chicago with my friends! Even though I felt exhausted I pushed myself up and got ready. I didn’t know whether to expect it to be warm like the last few days have been or if it would be cold, so I dressed for both. I pulled my sneakers on and collected my little bag full of snacks and essentials for walking around all day. Getting to school I go sit with my friends outside the gym as we anxiously wait for the bell to ring. We came up with our plan of where we wanted to go as we munched on our little breakfast.…

Opening my eyes, I was greeted by the bright, shiny sun peeking through the curtains. Getting up I noticed my calendar overfilled with Post-it notes, but there was a bright tomato, red color one, it was something important written as, “SAT Today”. My brain shifted into gears, I quickly sprang out of bed and dashed to my trusty backpack, rambling through past-due…

Almost within minutes it seemed he had arrived at Mission Beach. The sun was pretty much sky high on this early September day. He stood for a while gazing in the direction of the sand and sea. His hands were calmly by his sides. Noticing that the sun was too bright for his eyes, he slowly, with coolness about him, slid his sunglasses down from atop his head to the level of his eyes. The sunglasses were black and of a surfer brand style. Johnny could now see the details of what was happening upon the beach without squinting his eyes and forehead. This was a beach, he noticed, with diverse persons in attendance. Specifically he noticed an elderly couple walking along the sidewalk of the beach hand-in-hand, and both their hair colors were as white as…

I got out of my car as I smelt the salty water, as the cool breeze hit me with the bright sun behind me. I was with my whole family this year and my mom’s friends had came as well. I thought this year was going to very fun because my cousin Evan tagged along. No kids come that are my age so it’s not as much fun when I am by myself. It was a warm sunny day, like the ones you would expect in a summer camp; laughter was the melody that filled the air. Everybody was cheerful and enthusiastic, well everybody except one of our counselors. He was very worried, because his sister had been extremely sick, and nobody had been able to heal her. Everybody in my group had told him how sorry we felt for her, but really nobody connected with his situation, so we were not thinking about it. Instead we were immerging our souls into the contentment that was surrounding us. That day while we were acting, everybody was relaxed, focused and happy on what we were doing. We were living in our own little summer bubble. We decided to take a small break, in between the laughs I remember a friend saying “Isn’t it surprisingly amazing how beautiful life can be?”. That was the last sentence said before a cell phone rang and changed the course of the day.…

It was about 10:00 and it was time for our free period when we were allowed to go down the slides, the diving boards, or just swim on our own. Three of my buddies said they were going to go off the high dive, I was too shy to speak up about being afraid. I knew it was too little too late now I had to face my fears and just jump. We got in line, and it was as if I was in a trans just staring at everyone climb up the ladder and without hesitation jump and plunge into the icy water. Before I knew it I was on deck and I could feel stomach churning a little bit, as if on cue I heard the splash of Sam and knew it was my turn. I grabbed the metal bars and slowly made my way to the top, I felt like I was a mile off the…

He always said he wanted to go out with a bang, I didn’t realize that meant literally. I remember the sound of the gun piercing through the crisp night air then the thud that followed. I remember seeing his body lying still with that signature sly smile creeping from the corner of his mouth as if he had just told a joke. His eyes were closed, dark red blood pouring out his chest and mouth, staining his clothes, sinking into the sand of the beach around him. I remember the screaming ambulance taking his pale corpse away. I remember going back to the cabin up the road and getting out the Phrontistery, finding his note tucked away in the back cover. “Travel for me”, it said. “Goodbye, kid”, it said.…
