Ben and I were on our way back to the forest, right after we finished collecting more food for the camp. On our way back me and Ben got to talk about our experiences and thoughts about the war. I think, ever since i’ve been a partisan i have started to fall in love with Ben. Ben was always breathtaking with his blue eyes and his blonde hair, it suited him. Being not that pretty, i knew he would never fall for a girl like me, with green eyes and brown hair, but even just spending time with him made my heart melt. We talked about how we thought the war would end, and if we were scared or not, or if we thought we would live till the end of the war. Ben looked so brave and strong while i looked scared and weak compared to him. But I knew even if something were to happen i would be happy to be with him at all times. We were relieved when we saw that we were headed in the right direction towards the camp. As we got closer to the camp we heard screaming. We ran as fast as we could toward the camp and then we stopped when we heard a gunshot, we switched directions and ran the other way. While we were running I noticed Ben was going so fast he looked like a cheetah chasing his prey. We tried to find a place to hide, but there was nowhere unless we wanted to climb a tree. So we ran towards the place we thought was the safest at this point; the ghetto.
When we got to the ghetto we quickly went to check on mine and Ben’s families. Luckily, they were all right. We told them how we ran for our lives and how we heard gunshots firing at us and we thought that this would be the only safe place to be.
We left once it started to get dark. We walked around the neighborhood trying not to get caught. and as soon as we left we heard some more voices crying and screaming at the same
