Horse riding is considered easy by many people, but being an equestrian is a lot harder than many can comprehend. We, as riders, are trusting and communicating with an animal that is more than twice our size and does not speak our language. The reason we decide to do this sport is simply because we love it. Horses have a played a major part in my life and they have shaped me to be the person I am today.
As far back as I can remember I have always loved horses. As soon as I knew they existed my infatuation began. Growing up I was always reading the ‘Ponies!’ magazines, collecting Schleich horses, filling my shelves up with horse books and hanging posters of horses around my room, which was most likely to my sister's annoyance as we shared a room for many years. In the term one school holidays of 2008 my grandmother had taken me out to see one of her friends. After leaving we began driving around and we saw a riding school on Waverley Road, upon finding it we went in and I became a rider at ‘The Stables’. My riding career had finally begun.

There has been one main person in my life that has always been there for me, who has done a lot of the background work and so much more. This person has known me my whole life and I can’t thank them enough for all they have done. Mum. My mum is an amazing person, she’s raised and still raising four kids, been through many hospital visits, previously worked every day for many hours, been a chauffeur for all of us and through all of this she still manages to find time for my horse riding journey.
