potato sacks to be removed and recycled. I chose to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity because my sister recommended it to me who had volunteered for them for her work just a couple before.
My sister told me that it was an experience, which I would never forget, and I didn’t. Even though I only worked there for a day unlike my sister who had volunteered for a week it felt like the best feeling in world knowing that I was helping a family get shelter for themselves and have a new start in a new home. This feeling made me realize that even the littlest things can help someone else and we can always be doing little things throughout the day and our lives to help those in need or not as fortunate as ourselves. This feeling also helped my relationship with God it drew me closer to him and gave me a better understanding of my mission as a man for others and my following God’s order to go and love and serve the lord and all his
creations. Also during this experience I realized how the habit for humanity while trying to help everyone has strict criteria for being applicable for purchase of the new house. They make sure that the family applying really needs this and that they will be able to support themselves after getting the new home. This shows how serious they are about finding the right people for a new home and really look for someone who will respect the opportunity given to them and not disrespect the organization by not doing their best support themselves after receiving a new home. After this whole experience I have learned so much about myself, about helping others and about my relationship with God that I long to something like this again soon so I can keep on learning more about myself, others, and God. I think everyone should be able to have this opportunity that I had to volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity because it broadened my view on everything I though I understood.
