I have no problem reading something that is assigned to us for homework but, reading as an enjoyment and just for fun, is not me. This semester was a challenge for me, when it came to reading, but in the end, I loved it. Who doesn’t learn new things and skills that you thought was never a possibility. In the process of reading more, I have started reading for 3 hours a day. It is a very hard challenge, I will admit, but it what I have to do, to grow and expand in my knowledge of reading, writing and speaking. The hardest challenge for me when it came to reading, was our reading project. I not the type of person that could choose a book from a list and read it. Here on Earth by Alice Hoffman, was the novel I choose. Alice Hoffman is an incredible writer and I’m beginning to read more of her books, just for fun. You have to draw the reader's attention, when it comes to writing, because you don’t want to lose their attention, you want them to be really be hooked and wanting more. Who do you know that doesn’t love stories or exaggeration? No one, everyone loves to be drawn in, you have to really grab the reader's eyes and make them see, feel, and understand what your writing. Like in Here on Earth, Alice was showing us life in a small town and the true drama, her story, but in a different interpretation. I learned that topic sentences are not always at the start of the paragraph. Quotes can change your life, when it comes to finding something to set the tone of the essay/paper. Writing more is okay, as long as you are engaging the reader. Always know that, going outside the box is what you want to strive for, you don't want to do the same type of writing every time, you want to expand your horizons. Its facetious what you can find on internet, to help you with your writing skills. Our teacher found an enormous amount of YouTube videos, that can give you a better understanding on writing and skills you can try out. Right before writing a new essay in class we would always learn new writing brushstrokes, and our teacher would challenge us to try it out on our next
