Personal Narrative: It's Time To Clean A Car
I started my day off as if it was just another normal day. I hit the road and got onto the highway to get to Clinton where I work as a car porter at the Tom Peck Ford dealership. I learned many helpful things from this job that still help me to this day. With cleaning cars, there can be more rewards than just the ordinary pay check at the end of the week, you can also find goods in the cars. As I look back on it, I know I did the right thing for the wrong reason.
This job includes cleaning cars both inside and out. It also includes running various errands for my boss such as going to pick up parts, picking up cars and taking them to diverse places, and anything else asked of me from my boss. While cleaning the cars, you have to work in all

The most beneficial pro that kept me working here the most was the possibility of finding new things and being able to keep them. There are no requirement to how many cars I had to clean in a day, I just had to do what was asked of me and to keep a productive pace. After cleaning about three cars into my day, I found one small thing and decided to continue to clean more cars in order to higher the chances of finding something else.
I thought to myself “Today seems like a lucky day.” I continued to clean the cars on my own as if there were three people working on a single car. The cars that tended to have the highest chance of finding something in them are referred to as “Check in” cars. These cars are either trade ins from people who just bought a new car, or personal purchases from my boss that he wanted out on the lot. Once I reached my lunch break, I had a few small findings that I was happy with. I went back to work for the remainder of my time and came up empty handed for the second half of my day.
Although I ended up not finding anything else, I still benefited from my selfish actions because my hard work didn’t go unnoticed. My boss watched how hard I was working and gave me a compliment at the end of my

The narrative, The Driver’s Seat struck home for me because I just received my driver’s license this past May, 2015. I took time for me to actually drive and to become comfortable behind the wheel of a car. This piece of writing spoke to me and allowed me to review some of the identical thinking points that I went through while getting to the point of taking control of my dad’s car. The story effectively walked me through the trials of spirit and mental anguish that preceded me in taking hold of the vehicle with my dad as the co-pilot giving directions. This was the exact thing the driving instructor in The Driver’s Seat‘ taught the author. The routine of how to maneuver and throw caution to the wind- taking risks- to get the author over…

As I stepped into the mud colored cattle car, just the sight of it had made me wince. As I entered, it was like the other passengers were staring at me with shame, since if you were in the cattle car you had to of done something bad. I quickly put my head down. I could just feel the sticky wretched smell of feces and body odor in the car. My mother and I put our suitcases on the shelves, heaving them with all our strength to the very top shelf. We waited hours for in the dark, crammed, and smelly car before we started moving.…

I know you constantly claim that there is nothing wrong with my car, but Kevin holds a large amount of problems and difficulties that are constantly looked over. For example, Kevin’s engine can be heard from miles away, and the engine gets so obnoxiously loud in the vehicle that you cannot hear the person sitting next to you. In addition, Kevin’s brakes screech like nails on a chalkboard, the rearview mirror has fallen from the windshield many times before, and the CD player does not function properly. Often I find myself discovering some other element of the car that is damaged or broken. Kevin looks and runs smoothly now, but who is to say that he will tomorrow?…

I’m not satisfied with my car ride; it’s too rough. For instance, when a road surface has grooves in it, the wheels get pulled in every direction. My tires’ treads seem too deep for ordinary city driving. Bumps and potholes usually send my passengers’ heads straight into the roof. When I bought my car, I asked about its stiff suspension and heavy-duty tires. The salesperson told me that the suspensions’ elements would eventually soften for a smoother ride, but they haven’t. I should have known not to trust anyone’s words more than my own instincts.…

Once done with lunch and panic mode I continued reading and researching HB 48. Last Friday Derick had given me an assignment to write eight hundred words on HB 48 and I wanted to get started on the research. Then I left early at 2pm just as the rest of the office did since there was much panic over the weather. Wednesday I opted to work from home since while TS Bill passed us there was talk that the tail end of the storm would drench us, but alas, TS Bill once again faked out the weather experts. While at home I read more of the Thinking Economically assignments until Shannon emailed me with a new project that had me putting all our ROC supporters and their email addresses into a spreadsheet. While working on that Gregg Gold contacted me regarding a previous assignment that was put on the back burner and requested it be completed. Thursday morning started off with me finishing the project for Gregg and then the intern meeting at 10 am with The Center for Education Freedom where we learned all about school choice and the obstacles to passing the bill in this last legislative…

I was sitting in my grandfather’s dark house, sitting in front of my father’s big stereo with his huge gray Sony headphones listening to his Boys II Men cd. I feel a tap on my shoulder; I turn around and it’s my father. He said, “Come outside, dad’s going to teach you how to change the oil in the truck.” The first thing that came to my mind was why in the world would I want to learn how to change oil in a car. I am only 11 and I don’t have a car. My mom would always say “ Felicia before you were born your father wanted you to be a boy so he didn’t want to know the sex of the baby. He wanted to be surprised because he just knew you were going to be a boy.” I figured hey I guess this was the closest he would get so I always went a long with it. On top of that I was a tomboy so I guess it made it easier for him to ask me to come learn about something…
