they worked us like horses such as running up then down a hill then do ten push ups 50 times or even run a mile everyday. But doing that was probably the hardest training to do just to run 3 miles but it was well worth it. Once it came time for the event I was kind of nervous but also happy to be there.
My class and I took a few pictures before the race and we stretched a lot. A few minutes passed by and we had to get in our starting positions. So the race was about to start and there was hundreds of people around me and I was still a little nervous. The guy shot the gun up and I sprinted through many people. About half way through the first mile I slowed down and walked for a bit. Someone came up to me and said to at least jog. So I started jogging and I did that for about a mile and a half. Once it came to the second mile there was water cups, I grabbed two dumped one on my face and the other I drank. Since there was so many people I didn’t even know what place I was in or even how far I was. I was getting really tired but I hung in and sprinted the rest of the way. I could hear the crowd cheering so I ran like Forest Gump to get to the finish line. There was a timer when I crossed and it was about 35 minutes total and I finished. When I finished, I saw my mom with a bottled water and I went over to her. She congratulated me and I went over to talk to my friends that finished the race about the same time as me. We probably talked for an hour then my mom and I went to get something to eat then went home. I wished my dad was there, but he was at a skiing trip so when he got home, I told him all about it even I told my sister. The thing I’m glad I did was train because I got where I am now and all of that payed
off. The whole main point for me about this race was to have fun and hang out with my friends for a little. But I gained confidence because of this race thinking I could conquer the world after finishing. My family was proud that I actually ran three miles instead of playing video games on a saturday morning (by the way I had to get there at 6 in the morning). Also I got in shape in my legs because of it, so that was my moment of sucess/childhood memory.
