Personal Narrative: My 6th Grade Academic Team
I remeber when I was in the 6th grade academic team. Originally it was supposed to me and two other kids on the academic team but that day turned out very differently.

It was 7:00 in the Lake Placid Middle School parking lot on a Saturday in May. I was hanging out than my Friend Jacob Sueppel and a few other kids and adults. We were waiting for the two other 6th grade members to come. It has been about 15 minutes and they still haven’t arrived. A few minutes later and Ms.Vipers got a call saying the other 6th grade academic team wouldn't be able to come.

So before she told everyone to get in there cars to caravan to Sebring Elementary for the competition, Ms.Vipers asked me if i wanted to compete alone and I said

“Yes”

It was now 7:30 and I was extremely nervous. My dad was driving me to the Sebring Elementary school. I was very worried. But it was too late for worrying as I just arrive at Sebring Elementary. After a quick role call from Ms.VIpers we headed in and 6th Graders were first up. With my heart

About ¾ of the seats were filled up with Bored parents and Nervous Students.

It was 8:00.

It struck me and i took a sigh, realising what was about to happen.

The host looked at all of the teams before starting and she was surprised to see me alone at the LPMS table.

She started to welcome everyone and then she started asking questions.

There four rounds per grade. Each round had 15 questions and 1 teamwork question every other round.

So the first two rounds ended and i was in dead last. It was time for the first teamwork question. It was matching descriptions of famous figures with their picture. I got it right.

Now I was in third place, in front of Avon Park. I got a few more questions right and at the end of the 6th grade round I got 3rd place.

I learned that it is good to always try your best. I wondered what would’ve happened if i said I wouldn’t compete that

When I started Unity High School I thought that we were going to get a lot of work from my classes, and that work was going to be extremely hard. I also thought that I wasn't going to have any free time to do anything because of that, but it turned out to be wrong because the teachers give us a good amount of work but its not really hard. I thought that making friends in Unity would be hard in a sort of way but it was quit easy because everyone else was trying to make friends too. When I first got to Unity I also thought that there was going to be a few school clubs, but there is a good amount of clubs that students can join if they want to join some type of club. I think as a person I have grown more since first coming to Unity because I…

When the season began, we did not have a coach to lead us, so we practiced apace with the Varsity squad. A few weeks into the season, the Varsity coach found us a mentor that would lead us. As a few more weeks went by, our coach started picking up on more activities, which was too much for her to handle so she left, and we were once again without a coach. The team began to fall apart and it became very stressful for all of us. After the first three months of cheering, we had lost 8 girls on the team. Throughout those three months, my…

I don’t know exactly where I am going. Maybe this comes as a shock to those who think that because someone has good grades, they have their live figured out. It astonishes me just how mistaken this view is. Being born in Cuba I was limited as to what options I had for my life path. Consequently, the transition from one country to another when I was just twelve years old was very frustrating and tough. Somehow I managed to get a grasp of the language and progressively ascend from the lowest English classes to the most advanced in my school. I never failed to be hard on myself though, and I apply this concept to almost everything I do. However, this way of thinking has not come at no cost. My thinking process can be quite obsessive at times.…
