Personal Narrative: My Babysitter Play Her Violin

My life changed the day I saw my babysitter play her violin. In the exact moment the sound of the violin traveled from her fingertips to my nine-year old ears, I had instantly fallen in love with the little wooden instrument. I was completely mesmerized by how only four strings could produce so many different tones and how the vibrato made the notes come to life. This was the moment that I decided I needed to learn how to play the violin. I received a cheap violin for my birthday and started taking lessons one year later . What I heard from my first attempt at playing was far worse than anything within the realm of my expectations. When my right arm stretched the bow across an open string, an appalling screech came from my instrument. I was instantly devastated. Even at that time in my youth, I understood that perfection would not come overnight. However, I still couldn’t fathom sounding that atrocious at the start of my violin career. Despite the fact that I now knew that becoming a skilled violinist would not come quickly, my determination to achieve that elegant, vibrant singing quality didn’t falter. I came to the conclusion that I would just need to put in hard work and consistent practice to get the sound I wanted to accomplish.

Throughout school, I continue to ensure that my grades and knowledge are always improving. As for my music career, I continued to develop my violin skills for six years until I switched instruments and started playing the cello in 10th grade. Also, I am now a member of my high school’s top orchestra. My life skills and standards that I have attained through learning music continue to shape the way I approach my ambitions and goals.
