moment so I was curious what was wrong with the elevator. Suddenly an old lady was walking down the hall in my direction. I recognized the old lady as she came closer, she lived down the floor, her name was Mrs. Georgestin. I remember she would babysit me when I was younger. That was before when she lost her hearing completely, and now her eyesight got worse as well. She slowly strolled down the hallway with her cane, she had her white hair up in a bun, a pale floral two-piece and gold circular glasses. As she strolled to a stop by the elevators I said, “Hello, Mrs.Georgestin, how are you?” She looked at me slowly with her small eyes and responded, “Back away for me you crazy child!” she yelled trying to poke me with her pointy cane. As I backed away, she walked towards the elevator, “No! Mrs. Georgestin the elevator is broken, don’t go in!” I yelled, pointing to the piece of paper and blocking her view from the elevator. Mrs. Georgestin squinted at the paper for a second but then turned to look at me. “Get out of my way, little girl, I’m trying to get somewhere!” She said trying to poke me with her sharp cane once again, I stood in front of the elevator buttons and hoped she would go away.
She shuffled away with her cane while giving me a glare,“People are so crazy these days!” she shouted and limped back to her apartment. I felt bad for stopping her, and I also noticed that my heartbeat slowed down. The thought gave me the chills and it was to frightening to think of. What if I wasn’t there to help her? What if something happened to her? I looked around the hallway to see if Mrs.Georgestin was still lurking around but mainly I hoped that she had gotten any information through her, since she had such poor hearing and wouldn’t go in the elevator once again. She was still trudging back to her apartment, so I decided to stay back until she got into her apartment. I was curious to see what was wrong with the elevator, and I knew better not to press any buttons. I just wanted to see what was wrong with the elevator, that’s all. I pressed the “down” button and about 10 seconds later, the elevator doors opened. I looked down and gasped, I couldn’t imagine what I had just seen. I stepped away immediately, as my heart once again starting to race! There was no floor, just a dangerous, black hole that went down and down! My heart started to race and I was terrified. Without hesitation, I ran down the hall as fast as my legs can carry me. Mostly
because, I knew I was going to be late for school. That very same day I got home and I told my mom everything. “How absurd, there is no such thing as an elevator without a floor, don’t make up stories.” my mom responded, rolling her eyes. “Go see for yourself, there is no floor it’s just a deep black hole.” I continued without stopping to hear what she was going to say but all I thought was how sorry she was going to be when she falls into that elevator. I turned around because I wanted to say the last word of that argument. I walked out the door and down the 4 flights of stairs to the main lobby, as I walked to the desk I recalled what I saw, the lady stopped me short in mid-sentence and groaned, “You're the fourth person who complained today about the elevator, you are just going to have to deal with it until it gets fixed.” She looked at me as if she was sick of repeating this, “But when? You realize that elderlies live in this building and they can’t use the stairs, you need to get help as soon as possible, also..” again the lady interrupted me, “Please don't talk sassy to me, I don’t have time for this right now and frankly I don’t care either!” She glared at me and walked away from the desk to talk with another employee, talk about rude! I feel like my world has been crushed, nobody listens and they will all regret it when they find out that elevator needs a huge amount of maintenance. I walked up the flights of stairs and up to my apartment and there I saw, Mrs.Georgestin. She was far away in the distance but I can see that she is making a turn into the hallway where the elevators were. The elevators were tucked at the very far corner of the building but I can tell she was making another trip to the elevators, “Mrs. Georgestin stop! You can’t go in the elevator!” I was running now because I saw her turn around the corner to where the elevators were. She was walking slowly with her cane but she was too far for me to catch up and I already knew this was hopeless! How was she supposed to hear me when she had hearing problems, and how was she going to see that there will be no floor if her vision is blurry? As I ran around the corner, I had my hands on my knees, huffing and I felt light-headed. Mrs.Georgestin was only 10 feet away from where I was standing, at first my eyes couldn’t adjust but then when it all came clear my heart practically skipped a beat. The elevator doors glided opened and Mrs.Georgestin was walking right in, her cane mid-way through the elevator doors. “NO STOP GET BACK!!” At first it was me screaming but then I heard a scream much scarier, and sounded nothing like mine, she disappeared right in front of my eyes and all I remember was “they are all going to regret it.”
