religious pamphlets or books the only thing seen was a bible. There were several people throughout the church holding on to their bible; however, as the Pastor gave the service he would speak about praising the Lord and to pray for the ones in need. During the time of the prayers for those in need not only was the Pastor praying but also the entire congregation was saying a prayer at a fast speed rate that not one word could be understood. Also, in the Catholic church, I attend the mass is normally an hour long and sometimes does feel as if the hour drags; however, at the Christian church the service was over an hour and 45 minutes long and I can honestly say it did not feel that long. The service began with music it was also different to what I have listened to at a Catholic church. The music was an actual band with more than one person singing and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. I observed people with their hands up in the air as if they were praising, dancing to the music, and singing as loud as they could, every song they sung had a positive meaning. The Pastor Gabriel Aguilar gave the service, and he also had a guest speaker Roman from McAllen, TX who talked about how he converted into Christianity and the reasons why.
He gave a testament of his life of what he went through and what he experienced, he talked about the abuse of his mother, his abuse of alcohol and drugs, how he died two times and was brought back to life, and not even then he was ready to be “saved”. It was not until he was 25 years old when he found himself homeless and nearly dying from an overdose that he questioned God that if he really did exist to change him and to save him. He stated that at that moment his mother called him to the house he was staying at and asked him to attend church with her because while she was praying she stated that God told her to call him. He then stated that the next morning he walked into church with his mother, once being inside the pastor giving the service made eye contact with him, walked towards him, and as he had the pastor in front of him he began to cry like a baby. Since that day on, Roman is a changed man he stated that after 21 years he has not gone back to his past life of drugs, alcohol, and unhealthy
living. While experiencing this new church, I realized that everyone has their own beliefs and worships God in different ways. This does not make it wrong nor right it is an eyeopener to how different religions hold their service or mass. It also taught me that every congregation is different.
