Personal Narrative: My First Time In College

I failed. The first time in college I failed myself, I lost who I was and I didn’t really know how to get the boy I was back. It is easy to lose yourself when you’ve failed to figure out who you were in the first place. I grew up in an environment where I had to be what everyone else wanted and needed me to be so the last thing I had time to do was figure out who I needed to be, so when I applied for college the only thing I wanted to do was forget how hard the past seventeen years were. I majored in a pointless endeavor to make people adore me. I then decided to wipe the figurative dirt off my knees and become an adult so I finished my skincare certificate at a local trade school and upon completing decided to enter into a retail job selling cleansers and moisturizers. I have sobbed into my hands many times since the day that scared eighteen year old ran away, the day he lost himself, the day he failed but what he didn’t realize that when he looked into the mirror he had no use to find that boy that was lost because along the way with every time he failed an anger brewed inside and built a fire that couldn’t be extinguished he found that a man was staring back at him with the strongest ambition to succeed that he had ever known. That was his special super power that he had overlooked all of these years. Ambition fueled every decision that made him this man he was today. That’s why I need this scholarship I have an ambition for success that cannot be stopped. I want to obtain my business degree and be the natural leader that I have been all of this time and I cannot think of a more perfect place to do that than at Tallahassee community
