Personal Narrative: My Grandpa's Contribution During World War II
It’s hard for me to remember the stories about my grandpas being veterans. One of my great grandpa’s, my great grandpa James Trone, passed away before I was born. But my grandpa, his son, has told me about my great grandpa’s days as a veteran during World War II. My step great grandpa, Frankie Frederick, passed away when I was at an early age and he did not get to tell me about his days as a veteran. When I was at my grandparent’s house my grandma had pictures of my grandpas in their uniforms. I would ask her, “Why do they have those fancy uniforms on?”. And she would tell me about how the fought in World War II. Hearing the stories about my grandpas serving in World War II has really made think about selfishness. My grandpas gave up their
lives to fight for this amazing country, so we can have freedom. This has influenced me to give back time to help others and to care about others and not just myself. I am involved in 4h and that gives me a chance to give back to the community and help someone in need. Also when I work at the grocery store I always ask people if they need help carrying something or carrying their groceries out to the vehicles. I like my time to myself but I always try to give up my time for someone else.
