What Does Veterans Day Mean To Me
Veterans Day, What Does it Mean to Me? Each day means something different everybody. Some people hate Mondays while others love them, and some people love Fridays while others hate them. The same goes for each holiday, Columbus Day, Christmas, Halloween, and Veterans Day, they each mean something different to everyone. Well, this is what Veterans Day means to me.
This isn’t another day for us to get out of work and go easy on. This is a day that was made to honor and thank our veterans, the ones who fought and risked their lives, and even those who gave theirs, for our freedom. I work at Burger King, a lot of retired veterans come through every day and we give each and every one of them a 20% discount, and I am probably the only one that thanks them for serving our country.

Going into battle isn’t easy, you never know if you’re going to die the next day or keep living. You never know what you’re going to see while you’re in the field. Veterans Day is America’s way to thank veterans, both of past wars and current wars. Veterans Day to me is a day that we need to use to thank our veterans, no matter how. Buy a veteran lunch, sit down and talk with one, or just tell one thanks for serving their country, whatever it may be, just make them feel appreciated for what they willingly sacrificed for us. I have family that have retired from the military. My dad’s parents and one of his brothers have retired from service, also my mother’s

Most private employers do not give the day off for Veteran’s Day. Just because the government recognizes a legal holiday does not mean that private-sector employers have to follow it. Federal holidays merely dictate what the government is going to do; how the rest of the country chooses to observe the holiday is up to them. Aside from the legal aspect, SHOULD employers be closing as a sign of respect to our military and the sacrifices being made overseas? Of course, the answer to this question depends on your perspective and business. Furthermore there does not seem to be a logical rationale as to why employers often give time off for Memorial Day, but not for Veteran’s Day, it certainly seems to send the message that unless you died in…

It is important to keep honoring our veterans because they have sacrificed so much for this country. Also we honor them because we need to tell them how appreciative we are of their dutiful service to our country. Even the president honors our veterans. Each year the president or one of his representatives lays a wreath on The Tomb of The Unknown Soldiers in the Arlington Cemetery every Veterans Day to honor those veterans. Even though the first unknown soldier was laid to rest there on Armistice day on the year of 1921 this ceremony still continues. This is one way that shows just how important honoring our veterans…

Veterans Day is the day that we set aside to honor those who serve, but one day does not cover all the bloodshed. The day is not enough to show the appreciation which is due to the countless number of heroic men and woman. The American people should do more to show how much they appreciate their duty. Veterans make me be proud to be in a country were people would sacrifice themselves to keep our freedom and other rights that we take advantage of everyday.…

It is very important to keep honoring our veterans because if they didn’t fight for our country we would still be ruled by England or any other country that tried to fight us. Veterans play a big role in shaping our country and it is our job to recognize that. It takes a lot of tears and heartbreak to end a war, like WWI that ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, and those who survived and died are worthy of the recognition. If you have never talked to a veteran about their experiences in war, try it sometime and you might see how valuable they were in the making of the U.S. I think that it was smart that Dwight D. Eisenhower changed it from Armistice Day to Veterans Day because like I said it is very important to keep…

Veterans are men and women who have fought to protect our right to be free. These people put their lives on the line; risking the loss of bones, organs or even memory. These are extraordinary human beings if I say so myself. They deserve to be treated like royalty, yet more than 67% of the homeless population have served for our country for at least than 3 years. 47% of them served in the Vietnam War. This goes to show how “united” the United States really is.…

When you see a veteran, you should really stop and take the time to thank him or her for their military…

Whenever seeing an ‘old’ veteran with a Vietnam War or World War ll you say thank you because they are why we are here today. Without veterans over seas fighting we won't have the freedom we have today. Therefore seeing them we must thank them. Additionally, the down side of thanking them is we don’t think of the other side of saying thank you. If a Veteran has seen many lives die he/she doesn’t want to be reminded about that- and saying thanks does that most of the times. To conclude, saying thanks to a Veteran is a natural…
