Since age eleven, the military was single handedly the only career field I could possibly fathom myself going into. Upon coming to and registering for Blackman High School, joining JROTC was a no brainer. Especially when I learned I could take this class in substitution for gym class. JROTC is more than a class; it is a program all its own and within it are kids with a future. I would like to believe that JROTC is greatly contributing to this and really guiding us as students in the right direction. Even if our sights are set on something other than the military after graduating high school, JROTC looks great on a college application. Not only in that does it make a positive impact on those, but in ourselves as individuals as well. JROTC teaches us confidence, integrity, respect, and leadership skills. This is my first year in JROTC and I am very new to it all, but I am eager to take away from it precisely that. I trust this program to teach me to be not only a leader, but also a good follower with teamwork skills and confidence in my peers. Being in the company of such great people, both students and staff, I feel I am on the right path to be taking action on learning so.…

A resident assistant is more than just someone who checks the rooms and monitor the doors. A resident assistant is also a peer, someone who can mentor and help, while also making sure the residents are following the roles. I completely believe a Resident assistant is needed on college campuses. The position is significant because in college students aren’t surrounded by their parents and maybe only a few friends from back home, so really they may feel like they’re by themselves, so having a resident assistant can provide students with a tool, this tools being experience when it comes to campus, programs, classes, and even making…

I have obtained two jobs working alongside physicians and nurses. The first job consists of transporting patients throughout a large hospital system. Every day is filled with numerous activities as the hospital is a level one trauma center located between suburban and urban areas. I chose to work nights to gain more responsibilities and autonomy. My responsibilities include transporting patients throughout the hospital system. I have learned to communicate with a diverse population and explain my role with regards to care. During night shifts, I was tasked with transporting patients out of the emergency department and into the main hospital. Other roles of my job include collecting, cleaning, and distributing equipment such as IV pumps throughout…

Sounds pretty similar to the agency I work for but it sounds like you had a lot more training then we did. Oddly, I was never asked or told to shadow anyone however, I did have a few nurses shadow me. I asked these nurses about it and they told me they weren’t getting paid for their time and I thought that was a little bizarre. I’m guessing that many agencies do not pay people for training after hearing your experience was similar to…

During the summer I worked at a nursing home to gain some experience in the healthfield. Working as a certified nursing assistant really helped me grow and it is one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve had, it also was very challenging at times. As I said before I struggle with anxiety, but working as a nursing assistant pushed me to overcome some of the fears I had of communicating. I learned really quick when working in a nursing home you strongly need the ability to have good communication skills because without it you can’t communicate with the charge nurses, the residents or the other C.N.A’s. Everyday that I worked there I used different forms of communications such as body language which I learned says a lot about what a person is feeling.…
