Personal Narrative: My Journey To Become A Resident Assistant

I came to JCC as a second chance, I was unable to afford Virginia Military Institute where I originally planned on intending, and with August approaching I applied to JCC., I decided to make the most out of my Jayhawk journey. The Fall engagement fair is where it all began, I grabbed a senate petition, and became a voice and advocate for the student body. This one opportunity open various doors, by mid-semester I became Secretary, and by Spring I had moved up to Treasure and ran the Finance Committee. As of today, I have the honor and privilege of being the Vice President, in addition, I run and oversee Club Council. Additionally, I am privileged enough to be a Resident Assistant, and this is by far the most rewarding experience I have been
honored to hold. Through RA training in the Fall, we watched a video called “FISH!”, through this, and Amy Hadley’s presentation, I was inspired to follow my childhood dream to be an Archaeologist, and eventually, pursue a Ph.D. in Egyptology. If it was not for Jamestown Community College, I would not be on the path I am today.
