Personal Narrative: My Passion For Anatomy

The day I became intrigued with Anatomy was the day that my mom told me that when I around 6, I was diagnosed with kawasaki disease, A rare disease that affects fewer than 20,000 people a year. After staying in the hospital for two weeks, I started reading book after book about how the human body defends against disease and infection and the many systems that make up the body such as, The Nervous, Muscular, and Skeletal systems. But, it wasn’t until high school that my passion for Anatomy began to broaden. RephraseDue to the fact that my teacher had me examine different kinds of connective tissue under a microscope such as, bone, cartilage, and adipose tissue. All that was missing was blood, to which she said “The blood I brought was frozen
so that caused the cells to be damaged” to which I replied “Can I prick my finger and put it in a slide”. She said yes and I noticed that blood has a motion to it, it moves around and that fascinated me because I thought it would stay still if I placed it in a slide. This experience caused me to want to become a Medical Microbiologist so, I can work with blood and the human body. To help create vaccines and cure diseases.
