For the past five years, I have been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and am able to deliver a meal to people who are unable to cook for themselves. I have seen these meals becoming smaller and smaller each year while the price of the meal increases. Five years ago, the meals provided were balanced, colorful, and fresh. The meals being provided now are prepackaged frozen, reheated, colorless, and half of the size of what it used to be. My short-term goal is to work on earning a master’s degree while being employed in a clinical setting to gain more experience and knowledge. Throughout a span of five years, I hope to have spent time in various fields of nutrition and dietetics including pregnancy, pediatrics, or possibly geriatrics. Within ten years of earning my RD, it is a goal of mine to further my education by obtaining a Ph.D. and hold a high position in a clinical setting or go into private practice.
