Personal Narrative: My Political Beliefs
My political belief doesn’t really come from my family maybe so from what my dad might have said once or twice, but everything else comes from my knowledge and research. When it comes to the American politics it’s all out of proportion to me how everything is processed, it is also a little fishy and that makes me question the election and the way the government uses our tax money. When it comes to a political party I would say that I am ninety-five percent a democrat based on the position the party takes on certain issue or policies.

Immigration is a real sensitive issue when it comes to the American government and there are ways to solve it by not hurting a lot of people; the democratic party believes that the enforcement of immigrants

The party wants the government to implement immigration policies in accordance to the guideline that possible immigrants will be prevented from being accepted in America because of poor health, crime involvement or poverty. The members think that they will just present an unnecessary burden to America and its people. The party has always advocated for having a moratorium on long-term immigration (Kazin, 2009). Aside from this, the party does not believe that it is necessary to provide welfare subsidies to illegal immigrants. My political viewpoint has changed dramatically since I was first introduced to politics. I come from a democratic family, where it is strongly believed that it is the government’s responsibility to care for all people and that the government knows what is best for all people. Every voting season, my parents vote for a democratic president and explain to me the reasoning behind their decision. It was not until I was in the tenth grade that I realized that I did not hold the same political beliefs as my parents. After taking several political quizzes and extensively researching the bevy of political parties, I now know that I am an independent. What is an independent? An independent is an individual politician not affiliated to any political…

My views have changed quite a bit in the last several years. I was raised in the South, by a conservative Christian family. This whole presidential race has been something. To be specific it has been something I have hated. Politics is probably the only thing in this world that I feel such a hatred for. I don't hate it because of the outcome of the election, I hated it before that. The reason I hate it is because it just turns everyone against each other and it just causes negativity.…

I am the eldest of three to a school teacher and professional musician turned deli clerk. I grew up on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Like most of my classmates, I qualified for free or reduced lunch. It is difficult for families to find any house to rent year-round, never mind a safe one. I remember in one house we weren’t allowed to jump, or run for fear the floor collapsing. I had classmates who didn’t have enough to eat; one of my best friends in middle school was a foster child whose mother struggled with addiction. I was among the few who, though poor, was well cared for and loved by my happily married parents. I believe that in a “civilized” society no one should have to struggle for the most basic necessities. At first, I was not…

No matter the political party, most can agree that America’s immigration system is broken. The steps toward fixing the entire immigration process include everything from border security and amnesty plans, to employment eligibility, and everything in between. While democrats are pushing for quick reforms, a compromise between the two parties is far from settled. With nearly 11 million immigrants predicted to be here illegally, efforts to fix immigration seem more than necessary.…
