Personal Narrative: My Seventh Grade Basketball Team

The past weekend was something of the unexpected. I thought I was going to be just doing something normal with my friends but it was not. One of my close friends coaches a seventh grade basketball team. They play in a private league and I was invited to come watch them this past Sunday. I went to just relax and talk to some friends who were also invited. Before arriving to the game I thought I would be more focused on what my friend would be doing as a coach. I was completely wrong. While I was at the game we paid little attention to the way my friend was coaching but rather to his team. While watching the boys play I had seen a pact of connection I have never seen before. This seventh grade basketball team had shown me what a prime example of teamwork bonding can look like. This seventh grade team consisted of a band of 9 brothers. All together they made one. I wished the best for team lighting today. Before the game the bleachers of Niles North were full of family, friends, and relatives. Everyone here to brag and cheer about one of their own. Their opponents were fast and aggressive on offense. Joey was more than just one of the best players on the team. Joey was the vocal leader of the team. He kept everyones heads up and led them while on the court. This was were he was to be missed but team lighting never fails to disappoint. In the third quarter a new leader emerged in the game and it was Will. While he was on the court you could hear him speak and call out to his team mates. He brought the same kind of energy that Joey was bringing. Will was playing a great game as well. He kept his team focused and played the course of the game.
