Personal Narrative: My Snowphone Shortage
A shocked snowmobile rider netted more than 100 kilogrammes (220 lbs) of fish in a bizarre catch of a lifetime on a frozen lake.

Businessman Sergey Baburin had been riding cross country with pals in a forest near Schukovo in Russia's remote Ivanovo Oblast region.

But when his snowmobile got stuck in a frozen stream, he revved it hard and broke through the ice, revealing a huge catch of fish.

A video of the discovery shows the dense mass of fish in a pool of water with Sergey saying on the soundtrack: "I cannot f***ing believe it!"

He later told local media: "My snowmobile fell under the ice of a small creek and we could not get it out, so I decided to push on the accelerator."

As he did, the ice cracked revealing the teeming mass of fish

You, Anthony and I were in the cafeteria playing on our Ipads. Anthony took your phone off the table and handed it to me under the table. You saw it and took it back. Then Anthony made a gesture and it looked like he wanted me to grab it( I had no intentions of stealing it). so I did grab it and went to the locker room. I found a paper clip on the floor and picked it up and took the sim card out just in case it rang and I got a Jug. as I was going to put the sim card in the back of the case I saw you and Anthony and I got scared because Anthony popped up out of nowhere and I dropped the sim card. when you went back to the cafeteria you turned on the phone and it said "no service" so you checked the side of it (where the sim card slot is)…

By the time we made it back to the truck, another inch or so of snow had fallen. As fast as we could, I got in and started it. It took 10 seconds or so, but then the engine roared to life. I gave it a bit of gas, and threw of the heat. I got out to find that Pat brushed most of the snow off the truck. We threw the gear in the bed, and I took the backup alternator out of the engine compartment and got back into the truck.…

Special fishing spots were claimed by individuals, who sometimes leased them to others for a share of the catch. The men built platforms over the stream and caught the salmon with a "lifting net" lowered on a frame. These nets, as well as smaller nets used to scoop fish out of the rapids, were made of fibers from the wild iris leaves. Harpoons were also used to spear fish and eels. After the main run of salmon occurred in the spring, the fish would be dried to provide a supply of food for the year.…

“You’ll just be cold now and not hungry.” Everyone got settled in we got our poles set up with the right weights and lures. That proved to be quite difficult due the fact that our fingers hadn’t fully thawed yet. We dropped our lines into the water and hoped for the best especially with the luck we’ve had the past few years in the same general area. We fished for a while and didn’t get any bites so we added more weight to the lines so the bait would sink deeper and hopefully that would be where the fish were. We dropped our lines into the water and almost immediately my father had something on his line. He reeled in and the fish continued to fight. The fish came out of the water and flopped onto the ice above gasping for air. The monster he reeled in was a walleye no more than five inches long. “I didn’t know we were fishing for sharks.” I said…

During hot and muggy evening in August, I had just casted out my lure into the pond. I waited a few moments for something to strike. Out of nowhere, it felt like a freight train had hit my line. I was nervous and anxious, for I knew I have never had a fish this huge on the other end of my pole. The line was tight and quickly swaying through the water. My heart began to race, I could feel it in my ears. I reeled faster and faster, but the fish fought harder and harder. I knew that my line couldn’t take it much more, and I absolutely could not lose this fish. I had been sweating bullets for hours with nothing to show for it. I couldn’t let this opportunity pass me by. My pole was bent nearly to 90 degrees. I felt a sudden release of tension. My heart fell, I hoped that it wasn’t true, that maybe the fish had just given up fighting. I reel in, with much less hope than moments before. As soon as my line came out of the water, I saw the culprit. The hook was gone. I had…

One morning, my brother Reggie and I woke up and decided we were going to go fishing. It was a hot, sunny day like most of the days in Texas. We lived outside of Wichita Falls, Texas about ten miles near the Wichita river. My parents have about twenty acres of land that that the Wichita river runs through, we always went fishing there and caught a fifteen pound flathead at the most, but this trip was different. We set off at about seven in the morning so we could have plenty of time to fish, it was about a thirty minute drive to our section of river. Once we got to the river, we unloaded our poles, grabbed our bait and headed down to the bank. The water was up a little, moving nicely so we put bait on and through our poles in. After about…

Like many fly fishermen in Western Montana where the summer days are almost Arctic in length, I often do not start fishing until the cool of the evening. Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being of my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise.…
