Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…

I walked on a thin layer of ice in high school; every time someone judged me, I could hear the ice slowly cracking under my feet. My life was in a fragile and brittle state during my junior year. I didn’t have the support of my parents, nor of my closest friends at this stage of my life. My own parents, teachers, and classmates had lost faith in me; to them it seemed as if I had ruined my life and that I would no longer succeed. On the contrary, I was determined to be successful because now I had someone special looking up at me as their role model.…

According to this test my communication style under stress consists of avoiding and controlling. From the accompanying table I find that these two less-than-perfect strategies of handling crucial conversations only affect me slightly. When it comes to avoiding, I do not ignore the real issues; however, I sometimes avoid subjects that are not necessary to solving the main conflict. For controlling, I do like to get my point across, but I will not force my ideas and opinions on others nor will I actively encourage people to share their ideas. None of the methods for controlling pertain to me.…

Various intervals you are put in a location where you are not acquainted with the outcome and might have anticipated that you may possibly have gone to greater heights to accomplish it. Some encounters later you might realize what went wrong and how you could have improved to undertake the situation that was not favorable to your style of approaching it. I have encountered this type of dilemma a few times in my life and some of those times I still do not have an adequate solution. One time I was in line to see a famous singer in a stadium, as I entered through the doors and was trying to communicate with the individual managing the ticket booth however was having a difficult time. This caused a great deal of distress as my show was about to…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…

In sixth grade, I stood before a podium that stared back at my English class. This was not how I envisioned sharing my love for reading and writing; however, it was required. My palms felt sticky, and I just knew that the entire class could see my heart as it was about to hop from the walls that kept it safe. I prayed that I would not forget the lines as I recited The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. In sixth grade, reading, writing, and I started a relationship. Today, we have yet to break up.…

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

This semester I feel incredibly motivated and ambitious and inspired in my internship. I can tell my supervisor is starting to trust me more. I am now able to assist clients with filling out a referral form for treatment or needs. Even though, at first, I thought this small task was not enough for my development I am starting to realize that it is important because in a sense I am building rapport with my clients and the agency I may be referring the client too. In fact, by making an appointment for clients and filling out their referral forms, I am learning that to help people to move from where they are, to where they want to be, I will need to be able to use a range of communication skills. My supervisor is also teaching me…
