Personal Narrative: My Writing In A Journal
I remember in sixth grade when I wrote a descriptive story about a made up invention from the future. My teacher loved it so much she read it to the entire class and I remember having such a proud moment. It inspired me to continue writing. My language arts teacher was a very influential woman who sparked my interest in writing. In class we would create portfolios, podcasts, and write various types of genres. Since then I've always loved English because it's a creative outlet where I can express myself and my work. No other subjects speak to me in this particular way. My love for English is what made me start writing in a journal. Anxiety has always been a personal struggle of mine and my passion for writing developed into journaling. This
has helped me cope with anxiety and deal with stress. Writing everything down puts things into a helpful perspective and reduces my worries. Not only do I enjoy writing, but I also enjoy the analytical side of English. In class I've always liked sharing my interpretations of texts and comparing it to my peers perspective. English has influenced me to share my thoughts and become a well spoken person. I wanted to further challenge myself in English so last year I was admitted into an AP language and composition class. I learned a variety of useful analytical skills and learned how to carefully interpret a writers rhetorical devices and the effects it has on an overall passage. To continue to challenge myself, I am currently taking AP literature and composition where I carefully read texts, asses the literary elements used, and write analytical papers about the text. The things I've learned in English I can apply to all aspects of my life. From writing a college level essay to speaking in front of people, my passion for English has become a solid foundation for future tasks that come my way.
