Personal Narrative: Orlando, Florida 2005
Whilst looking through my collection of photographs I discover a bundle labelled “Orlando, Florida 2005”. Just then a lot of very happy memories came flooding back, these pictures seem like they where only taken yesterday. Yet they where taken 12 years ago, my last family holiday. I can remember every detail about this particular holiday, obviously it had such a huge impact on me. I recall visiting Disneyland and meeting all the Disney princesses I was so gobsmacked. It was all a 5 year old little girl could dream of! I would clutch my big sisters hand and jump up and down with excitement. One of my fondest memories was doing the princess tour, my sister was 12 and she just did anything to make her little sister happy so obviously she joined
in and we got dressed up as Disney princesses. We wore crowns and fancy dresses with our hair done especially for the occasion, walking through the crowds and crowds of people, how could things become any better? My mum and dad would take lots of photographs of us, which we probably weren’t too happy at the time about but now I’m glad for the memories it brings back.
We stayed at a lovely hotel, which had an amazing pool. This brings back another funny memory, I wasn’t quite able to swim just yet on my own. So I had armbands on, I thought I could rule the world obviously like any other five year old. So I decided I could swim on my own without arm bands…. So I thought until I took my arm bands of and leapt in the pool! I was on my way to the bottom aboutt to leave this earth before I had even started primary school. I can still remember the blue and white tiles at the bottom of the pool with the sun beams reflecting off them. I was petrified, just then a kind man came and rescued me! I had ran away from my mum and dad so they where frantically looking for me. When I was rescued from the water I will never forget my dad coming over and taking me into his arms and not letting me go. I had no fear in the world. I wasn't going to be let out of their sight again!
