Personal Narrative-Pentatonix Concert Memoir
Pentatonix Concert Memoir
“Are we there yet?” I impatiently asked that about a million times. “Yes we are close now stop asking that”, my mom said annoyed. We were going to the Wisconsin state fair to see Pentatonix! I was so excited to go. My sister got tickets for her fourteenth birthday and this was the day I was waiting for this for a month and my whole family was going.
We got there, but when we tried to get into the fair our tickets weren't scanning so I was scared that we weren’t going to be able to get in. As you might guess, we did get in, but it took a few tries to get the tickets to work. After that we went on a hunt to go and find food. If you don’t know state fair food is SUPER EXPENSIVE. My brother and I got pizza,

It felt like one hundred stairs that we had to go up to get there. After that, we all got super scared because we were so high up in some of the highest seats. My sister, Sara, actually started crying because she was so scared. Once people started singing we were all done with being scared and were ready to have a lot fun and listen. The openers were Us The Duo and they were SUPER good! They sang their song that they sang to each other on their wedding day and it was so pretty! they were done it took a really long time for Pentatonix to come out onto the stage, but once they did they were so amazing! They were even better than on a recording! The lights were so cool and bright going off behind them. My whole family loved it and was blown away. After the show was over we had to go down some more stairs to get back to our car. We started the long car ride home and about an hour in I started to feel really sick so we pulled over for a minute so that I could have a breather and stand up. After I took my breather we made it home in one and a half hours which wasn’t bad. We all went straight up to bed because we were all so

He was right about how crowded it would be. When we go there people were walking in the street and cars were moving so slowly. I was only eight and not very tall, so it was hard to see over the people who crowded the street. Finally we got to the entrance, and then we went to our seats after we handed in our tickets.…

“Sometimes quiet is violent,” those words ring into the teeming stadium as thousands of zealous fans sing along. One of those fans happen to be myself, standing in the middle of the pit of people. Two shadowy silhouettes exist on stage; one on the piano and the other on the drums. Then suddenly the lights flash revealing an immense sign labeled Twenty One Pilots. Tyler Joseph on the piano, and Josh Dunn on the drums. Tyler only concentrates on the piano, barely letting the singing crowd impede his focus. Josh is coated in a thick layer of sweat, as he gently strikes the cymbals, just enough to give an ominous feel. As the middle of their song, “Car Radio” approaches, Josh asks Tyler to sit in a chair. Although we want to cheer, conversely, we watch in anticipation, as Tyler obscured by a white sheet, just barely covering his scrawny body. Abruptly, Josh removes the sheet, and Tyler is gone.…

With sweat drenching their bodies and taking deep gulps for air, five young men sling their arms over each other’s shoulders and take their final bow. The crowd’s cheers erupt into shrieks and tears; for they have just witnessed the boy band One Direction perform live in concert. My screams too, can be heard throughout my house as I watch this video on YouTube vowing to myself that one day I will see One Direction in concert. I make this promise to myself, as my screams then morph into tears of joy and longing as the members of One Direction exit the stage.…

Bands of America was very cool this year! The bus ride went very well, only problem being that every bump hit would rewind the movie that was playing. Once we got there everything went very smoothly. I got to help the band moms put the hat boxes in order! Warm ups there were a lot of jitters in the air it seemed, but not bad ones. Waiting to get on the field was extremely nerve wracking. But, once we got on the field everything seemed nice and mellow, like we were back on the field at home, it just had a different crowd and background. I feel really good about the performance. We did the best we could do and our best got us third in our class! Heading to the hotel and getting to lay down and rest was very nice and much needed. The food was…

School of Rock. Seeing those words on my calendar made me dread the weeks to come. My parents had signed me up for an activity, once again, without asking my opinion first. My friends would be going, but that didn’t make it sound better. I would be put in a band with people I didn't know. I’d always left being outgoing and meeting new people for my friends to take care of, but this week it seemed to be on my to-do list.…

My love for music began in middle school. At that time, I was socially awkward with very few friends. To compensate, I buried myself in music. My dedication led to many honors and admiration from my peers. However, when I got to high school, my relationship with music fundamentally changed. The arrival of an overly demanding teacher coupled with a long episode of depression robbed me of my passion to play. As time progressed, the pain I felt became too much to bear, and I became desperate for an outlet in which I could express myself positively. My quest led me to music once more, but classical was no longer the genre of choice. It was in hip hop and rap music that I found the will to overcome mental illness.…

Two years ago, on a cold Saturday morning, I prepared for my first ever track tryout. I took a shower, put on my clothes, and got into the car. On my way to practice, I felt strong physically, but I also had an undefined, jittery feeling about how the day was going to go.…

I went straight back to practicing because the concert would come to me in a blink of an eye. My heard was beating so hard it felt like someone was pounding hammer on my chest, I was shaking, sweating, disey, everything you could possibly imagine I felt like I was about to faint. Guitar has been one of they most important things in my life since I first started at age 6 and it just started to come naturally. I was doing great while practicing and had finally nailed every song I played. Playing up on this stage with this band would soon decide my future, if I fail I could never get this chance again and if I do good I could soon be playing all the time, my dream would come true. I had always had my own band with my friends since a young age and we were good but had never played on a stage, and if I were to do good at the concert my band also could start to become…

Then was Mister Snow’s Shoes which Anthony always complained about. It went well I thought but next was Ubi Caritas. The song Mrs. Hall said that was going to make or break the concert. So I was terrified again. Mrs. Hall was making faces during the songs before sometimes to let us loosen up a bit. Ubi Caritas went okay but some people messed up like me. I was glad most of the time I stayed on pitch though. So yeah for me!…

In March 2011, I took a few days of classes and received my hunting education certification. Looking back, the actual class time is just a blur of what not to do, but I was reminded of them when I took drivers education last December, with the what not to do teachings. I also remember being very nervous about the test, but having a great feeling when I learned I passed. That October, I remember being immensely excited to go on my first hunt. The night before my dad and I left, I had a parent teacher conference and I remember getting some strange looks in the parking lot because we had a trailer loaded with tents, four wheelers, chairs, and a bunch of other stuff…
