Personal Narrative: Running Back At Muskegon Catholic High School
I was at Muskegon Catholic High School playing a scrimmage for football. I was on defense playing the corner back position. The ball was snapped, the running back ran right and I ran towards him. I lowered my body, it was going to be a perfect tackle. I almost had him. The running back was right there. When I went in for the tackle I got hit. I dropped. Sitting there thinking "what the hell just happened". It turned out to be my buddy that smoked me in the head. I also remember the other team saying "ooooo". When I got up I didn't think to much of the hit but then a few plays later I soon got called off the field. When I got called off the field I was sweating hard. That being, I took off my football gloves. Next thing I know I looked down …show more content…
One of my friends asked me if I was okay and i said "yeah I am fine". But then he asked me if I was okay after the hit? I said "yeah it hurt a little bit I'm okay now". Not thinking to much about the hit I started walking down the sideline to some of my other buddy's and then all of a sudden I felt super light headed so I sat down on the ground and soon enough another trainer came over and said if I was alright which I wasn't. The trainer checked me out for a little bit and asked me multiple questions which I thought I answered correctly but before you know it there was a ambulance and a fire truck sitting in the parking lot. With the paramedics rushing over to get me they soon put me on a stretcher and took me to the ambulance. I'm not gunna lie I was really scared one being I didn't know why I was being put into a ambulance, and because my parents were not down at the games to see if I was okay or where I was …show more content…
The only problem was my phone, backpack, all my football gear was still at the field. I remember wishing my mom was here and soon enough my mom came into the room. I was so happy she came because I didn't know anyone there and it was scary being alone. Not a single coach came with me. After the doctors said that I am good to leave we soon left. The doctors said to not do any activities in a week. With that being I gave it a week but I should have waited some more time. When I went back to work my first day back was a full day of work at AJ's. By the end of the night I started to get light headed again and feeling really bad. I felt like I was going to pass out. I've never felt this much pain. I needed to do something about it and I knew I couldn't drive home so I had to call my mom. When she picked me up she knew I needed to go to the hospital again. When we got to the hospital they quickly put a IV in me and said that I was lacking fluids in my body. When they started to pump fluids in my body I could feel the blood/fluids going into my veins. We were in the hospital for 3 hours. In conclusion, Football can be very ruff and there is no way you can judge a situation on what is about to happen because in football anything can happen. I have been through a lot playing football and I love the

It was the middle of the summer and I was playing baseball in Jackson, Mississippi. I was playing for the Goodlettsville All-Stars. We were playing in the little league 10u world series. To get to the championship we had to win 8 games and it was single elimination. We had won 7 out of 8 games and we were playing our 8th game and it was the bottom of the third and I was playing left field. In the second inning I was felling drowsy so my dad gave me a Snickers and a Red Bull. I was for sure not drowsy anymore. I could feel the sugar rushing through my veins and I was on the balls of my feet waiting for the pitch to be thrown. When my pitcher threw the ball I had my hand in my glove ready for the ball if it was hit to me. WHAM! The ball was hit so far up in the air it looked like it hit the sun. When I realized that the ball was coming to me I was way too far back so I had to run as fast as I could and dive for the ball. I jumped as far as I could and stretched as far as I could. I barely caught it by snow coning the ball. Everybody was so proud of me that the screamed as loud as they could. We went on to win the game 4-1. The next day I woke up, jumped out of the bed, and put my uniform on. I was so excited, I was in the championship! I…

I was bleeding. They took me to the emergency room and that was when I knew I had to quit. My dream of making it onto the 49er team went up in flames “Dave, I’m sorry,” my mother said, “ maybe next time we can try a different sport.” “Thank for the comfort,” I replied. I didn’t think it was very safe.…

It was a really hot day. The scorching sun in the sky made it almost impossible to play. When we all got out the truck, we went to the field that we were supposed to play on. There was a game on the field. This meant that we got here early. Of course, most people would use that extra time to warm up. But for me, it was completely different. I sat on the bleachers. I was thinking deeply on my moves in order to bypass the defense. BEEP!!!!! The referee has blown the whistle to end the current game. The whistle snapped me out of what I was thinking. It was our turn to…

This was one of the best teams in our league behind West-Genese and Fayetville-Manlius. We started the game off good and quickly jumped up to a 1-0 lead. Our goalie had 5 saves an our defense was holding against their offense very well. Our offense was passing the ball very well and made most of the shots they took. Ending the half the score was 3-1 us. Our coach was very proud of us and let us know that during half-time. Starting the second half off you could tell Cazenovia was upset because they started playing dirty. Then came a turning point of the game. Our goalie made a save and I was running down field to catch the ball. I turned around to catch the ball then as soon as I turned the other way I got hit hard and layed on the field knocked out for a few seconds. Coach Culandra ran out very quickly and told me to stay there while Kelly the trainer ran over. After try looked at me Kelly gave me a concussion test and then I noticed my helmet was shattered. No one ever thought the helmets could shatter like mine did. Kelly took me in and gave me a new helmet which I then used to finish the game off in. Sadly we lost…

This weekend I was watching the buffalo bills. Before the game me and my dad were talking about who would win the game, we both had picked the buffalo bills to win as they were favored by much. As we were watching the game I felt a bit jittery with the bills being down by 10 points going into the half. Soon after, the bengals quarterback lined up to get the football I could see that the bills defence was struggling to get into the right positions. The center than suddenly snapped the ball sounding like the engine of a car deceiving to turn on. I saw the ball touch the hand of the quarter back making him shimmy the ball into his right hand. The screen on the tv then dragged over roughly following the ball that the quarterback had just thrown…

As a defender I’ve learned when the perfect time to attack the ball is. The girl was running onto what we call a “through ball”. It was a fifty, fifty ball. We both came in on the ball hard and fearless. It all happened so fast. We both hit the ball at the same time, my foot on one side and hers on the other. Next thing I knew I was looking at the night sky with the bottom part of my left leg pointed out. Almost as in a “L” shape. The pain hit right away. I remember my reaction was immediately tears. All I wanted to do was try and move it, but I…

When I was in 5th grade we were playing Agusta. One play I had blitzed up the middle and the running back juked to the left so i jumped to the left and stuck out my arm. When I did this he kept running and my arm went with him, but my body did not. Right away I felt it come out. When I started running towards the sideline it popped back into place, but I did not play for the rest of the game.…

They carried me outside to where the ambulance was waiting. As they opened the back doors and placed me inside the ambulance, the harsh smell of chemicals and sanitizers hit me in the face like a brick. Once we were all in, we went to the hospital. By the time we arrived, my arm wasn’t as bloody anymore because they had cleaned, dressed and put a temporary sling around my arm in the ambulance. Mike asked me if my arm was giving me any discomfort but I told him I was alright. It was probably due to the pills one of the other men had given me while I was still in the ambulance. It was called anesthesia or something like that. Mike told us to follow him and we were lead into one of the hospital rooms. There was a sink, 2 chairs, a table, a television playing the news, a hospital bed and a ton of medical equipment I didn’t recognize, and just like the rest of the hospital it smelled like cleaner, chemicals and sanitizer. Mike told us the doctor would be coming shortly and with that he left. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor came in and checked my entire right arm up to my…

The day of my surgery I walked into the hospital and was calm as could be, they asked me to put on the surgery drape and lay on the bed so they could put the IV in my hand and get ready for the surgery as soon as possible before I freaked out again and tried to leave. After they put the IV in my hand they asked me a lot of questions than pushed me back to the operating room where surgery is done, they asked me to switch tables on my own then they immediately strapped both arms and my left leg down so I couldn’t move, the surgeon came in the room asked if I was ready and said, ‘everything will be okay!” that’s all I remember till I was back in the room where I started with my mom, apparently I was crying when I came out of anesthesia but I honestly do not remember any of that. The funniest part about the surgery was when I got back in to the pre-op room she told me to go ahead and change back into my original clothes to go home, but I didn’t know I already had the surgery because I felt just as I did when I went in, so when I went to stand up and put my shorts on I fell over cause I only had one working leg with feeling in it! When I got home I had to walk inside and lay down to prop my leg up higher than my head to get the swelling to go down while icing it also. About a week and a half after the surgery I had a mental breakdown because I was so bored and with all my friends asking me…

From that moment on, everything turned into a disaster. As soon as I got up i felt my head warm and wet at the same time. That only got me to thinking that it was blood. I immediately began crying because I knew I had split my head open. Everyone in the living room heard my cry and ran right to the staircase including my cousins. No one had any clue how I got injured. Without thinking about how it happened my mom started cleaning the blood running down my forehead and said "we need to get him the the hospital right now". My dad got his car turned on and everyone in the house decided to come along with us to the hospital. After checking me up doctor told me that I had to get…

I went to the Emergency Room for the first time when I was thirteen years old. It all came about when I was skateboarding in front of my grandma's house and I tried to do a trick. I almost pulled it of, but I messed it up in the end and headed to the ground with my hands down. My right wrist was twisted the wrong way in the air when I landed hard on the ground, it just broke it. At first it did not hurt at all, but when I looked down at my warped and twisted wrist , all of a sudden excruciating pain rushed through my wrist and I came unglued. Rolling around on the ground yelling and cussing in pain, my parents saw what happened and came running to my aid. My dad started moving it around saying, "it's not broken," as my mom was saying over and over again we need to go to the emergency room to get the real diiagnosis. After about fifteen minutes of yelling and screaming, I finally got up and held my wrist as I walked to the car. The whole way to the ER the pain got worse and worse. Later I foound out the increase in pain was due to massive swelling against the broken bone. I had to sit in the waiting room for almost and hour which seemed loke forever. After waiting impatiently, I finally got into the doctor's office where I got an X-Ray and found out my wrist was truley broken.…

We had to sit in the emergency room for about three hours before they even took me back. I was in tears by this point because of the pain I was in. I was angry with the doctors because of how long they took. After they took my vitals, the doctor came right in. My parents explained to him what had happened and he immediately rushed me to an x-ray room. He put me on morphine to help calm the pain until my results came back. It seemed as if it took years before the doctor came back in. I can remember just…
