Personal Narrative: Soccer In My Life
I consider myself is persistent. I am the type of person who will not give up until the goal is reached or achieved. I have high expectations from my family, friends, and the people I work with. They believe that from what I do, what I know, and who I am know that I can go somewhere and become someone. I come from a family where college is a rare chance only certain family members have gone to college. My family know I have what it takes to go to college and they are making sure I go by asking me where I want to go, what I want to do, and how I am going to get there. I am one of few kids in my entire family to have both parents that have at least attended some sort of college. Everyone in the family has played soccer for at least a year, it is what I guess you can call a family tradition to play at least one year of soccer. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

It had been a long and tough game. The sun was beating down on us and we were all tired when all of a sudden the game’s time limit ran out. We were all tense because no one knew the score. The ref said that the game was tied. We all exhaled. We hadn't even realized we were holding our breaths. That meant we all had to do PKs (Penalty kicks) until one team won.…

Soccer, the sport I started playing when I was four years old. After almost 14 years of playing the sport I loved, we were playing Ocala Vanguard in the District tournament for my high school soccer team, Leesburg; if we lost it would be game over for me and my 15 other senior teammates. We knew we had to play strong just to have a chance against them, and oh what a game it was.…

People ask me why I care so much. They tell me it’s just a game, get over it. But soccer has never been just a game to me. Soccer has been consuming my time, thoughts, and body since my parents signed me up for small-time recreational soccer twelve years ago that developed into extremely competitive travel soccer. They, perhaps unknowingly, threw me headlong into a life of traveling countless miles, long nights of practice, and an unforgettable amount of tears, sweat, and bloodshed. All which persisted over the course of my extensive soccer career.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

Last year, it was my first year when I work in the female soccer team from my old high school. This was a soccer team where I was a goalkeeper trainer. This team was the high school soccer team representing the local High school. The purpose for our team was to win all the games against other schools, another of our goals was to have fun and to stay active; my personal goal was to train the goalkeepers the best I can and make them better soccer players. The best reward we all get was the feeling of been the winning team, the feeling that we all get after realizing how hard work has paid off. That is always the best feeling, to win games. The best reward I get personally is just to know that I trained the goalkeeper the right way, and they had…

I chose this goal because push ups are a great exercise to increase your bench press. My third goal was to get really cut and lower my body fat percentage. I increase cardio and changed to a healthier diet to achieve this goal. My fourth goal was to weight 150lbs. I chose this goal because having some extra weight will help me on the football field. I tried to make these goals reasonable and with a lot of hard work I was able to achieve 2 of them.…

It’s game day, and the first time in twenty-three years that we might be able to defeat out school rivals, Turpin. But something didn’t feel like it should, after all it was the biggest day our team’s season. We had immense confidence in ourselves, being the higher raked state team, we expected to win this game then make a large tournament run. Little did we know that the rest of our season relied heavily on this game. Winning or losing this game would not end our season physically, but would emotionally ruin us, ultimately ending our season. The game began with a pleasant, almost soothing blow of the whistle and ended with the blood-curtailing screech of the referee’s dagger, sending shivers down my spin. The roar of our crowd stopped and…
