Personal Narrative: The Princess Bride
Growing up I had my fair share of princess movies and of course the Princess Bride. We used to watch it all the time at my babysitters and it easily became one of my favorite movies. The characters were so interesting to my 8 year old self. They were all so brave and beautiful that I never knew what was going to happen next even if it was the third time I had watched it that day. But as I grew up, just as much of other things I grew out of, I saw the the Princess Bride for what it truly is. The characters weren’t so much brave and beautiful, I could soon predict everything that was coming up and not because I had seen it so much but it was just obvious. Sadly, now I hate the movie for all its worth.
I always continued to think about how much

Get a grip on life. The girl doesn’t even bathe or comb her hair, okay I can’t really say anything about the hair but seriously the bathing? When Westley became the Man in Black, he learned a lot about life, love, and the desire to live. He could beat Inigo in sword fighting, he could take down Fezzik, and fool the poison guy who hired Fezzik and Inigo, into drinking the poison. The Man in Black is extremely smart and a person you should not mess with. Westley on the other still very smart but all he cares about is Buttercup. Which is sweet and all but when he puts on the black ensemble he transforms himself into something so much greater and aspires to greater things. The famous line from the movie and books. But it got annoying real fast. Though it shows massive respect that he wants to avenge his father, like really man, the guy who killed your father could be halfway across the world or even six feet under. Don’t spend your entire life searching for him when you have no way of knowing where in the world he might even be or further more whom he even is. Plus then he didn't make the situation any better by becoming an alcoholic and drinking his life away. But I will give him props for never giving up. That is something we can all take away from Inigo, even though he had no idea who this man was or where he might even be, he never gave up and that is the sign of a true

The princess Bride does have a few weak moments, and lacks development of its characters and their personal storylines as well as poor dialogue choices at times. But overall this a great love story with some moments worthy of an action/adventure. The Medieval setting does support the plot and the characters in many ways such as speech and personalities. This is a film for all ages, and anyone interested in more traditional love…

It is a mixed blessing to be able to see the movie version of a popular book. In most cases, Hollywood veers from the text and the viewer is left with a watered down version of the original. In the case of the Princess Bride, the cinema version is very close to the book. One such scene is Inigo and Fezzik’s visit to Miracle Max in search of a miracle. Setting, conflict, and dialogue are three points of high congruency.…

In the book and in the movie, they describe Buttercup very similarly. In the book, her dad was talking about how she had not bathed, though she claimed she did. Buttercup’s father continued and said, “Not with water..you reek like a stallion,” (43). While I was reading the book I pictured this beautiful girl with long blonde hair, and then I find out that she doesn’t properly bathe, and that made me rethink how I looked at Buttercup as a beautiful young lady that guys were highly attracted to. The author did this to make you question who she really was and if she was as beautiful as you pictured she would be.…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…

I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I put my extra books and notebooks into the locker and and closed it as quietly as I could.…
