I watched the glass windows fog up as I took one last deep breath before I zoned out. It was almost game time. It was about 20 minutes to our destination to play Evanston Township, or E- Town, or a team that scared us half to death. Now this team was no New Trier, but we still had some major beef with this team. This time last year we had parents from both sides, flood …show more content…
“Yes Coach Smith!?” I tried saying with complete excitement to cover up my anxious nerves.
The whole bench was now glaring at me. I started to get myself pumped up by saying motivational words in my head, “Can you hand me a water?” Coach Smith asked.
My heart collapsed right there and then. My face that was once a color of rose turned blood red from embarrassment and my hands grew into fists of anger that sit still besides my waist.
I used all the energy I had built up to run back to the water stand and hand him a cup of water. I didn't know how to react, so I slowly walked back to my seat where I sat back down next to my teammate Anna, and realized the only thing I could do was laugh hysterically at the thought that I was going

Avoiding all the curve balls that were thrown at them, the ChMS Baseball team took the necessary steps to get to an advanced level. With 28 wins and 8 losses, they practiced everyday to become more and more talented. “My favorite part about this season was that everyone got along and worked hard together,” commented Lucas Jennings. The head coach of the team is Coach Ayers, and the assistant coach is Coach Green. These two coaches pushed their players to their limits to make them the best of the best. I felt like such a looser I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t because everyone had their eyes on me feeling like a dam about to burst. This was probably the most embarrassing moment of my life as I was on that track. I was about to walk off the turf and not finish, but then I started to he rhythmic clap from the audience and I knew it was for me. At that moment I started to jog to finish line. I had two forces fighting within me one wanting me to give up and there wanting to keep going forward and not letting people down. If the audience can put the effort to cheer me on, the least I can do is finish. I finally finish and I have never been so happy to finish something in my life.…

One extremely important activity outside of the classroom that has helped me grow as an individual is Church League basketball at my local YMCA. From the outside looking in this league seems to be a form of glorified pick-up basketball with referees and a scoreboard but there is so much more to it. Almost half way through my junior year my father convinced me to try out for the varsity basketball team at school in November to which I hesitated at first but later gave in and tried out only to be cut. At first I was upset because I had never been cut from a team and I was unsure of how to handle it and what to do with my free time. This prompted me to reach out to God and ask him for a sense of direction and purpose in this time of my life to which He responded with a friend inviting me to Church League basketball. Once I experienced a few scrimmages and practices I decided to commit to playing Church League and coming to all of the…

The car ride there was filled with anxiety. My mind was racing with terrible thoughts with things that could go wrong, and my leg was shaking violently like a jackhammer. I kept picturing MICDS celebrating together as we lowered our heads in defeat. I tried to pull myself out of this. This was not the mindset I needed. I turned on the radio, in attempt to bring up my mood a bit, focusing on the music and not what’s about to happen…
