Personal Narrative-Southern Indiana Wrestling Conference
The best feeling in the world, was standing on the number one podium three times and having your hand raised in front of hundreds of people, tears were rolling down my face, I had butterflies in my stomach. Once as a Mid Southern Conference champion, another as a Southern
Indiana Wrestling Conference, and Sectional champion. The best feeling out of all of them was me standing up on the first place at sectionals. I had dreamed about being number one on that podium for so long and it had finally came true. I learned that hard work, and dedication will pay off in the long run as long as you never give up.
It all started at SIWC, also known as Southern Indiana Wrestling Conference. Coming into the conference I was ranked third due to the fact that

So, that’s what I done and I beat the kid in fortyseven seconds. As I won I could feel sweat dripping from my face, I could feel butterflies in my stomach and as my hand was raised by the reef all I could do was smile. My coaches and teammates were yelling “Great job Logan”.

Then MSC, better known as Mid Southern Conference. Coming into this conference I was seeded first and I was determined to get what I was ranked. So, my first match I had to face a kid that I had wrestled two times in the past I had beat him both times. I wasn’t going to let that go to my head though anyone can get beat or get caught so I went out there wrestled smart and came out with a win. Then it was championship round I was a little nervous but I had been here before once again I was wrestling a kid that I had beat a couple of times but I wasn't going to let that get in my head so I wrestled like I have been all day and all year and came home with another win. That’s how I became a two time Mid Southern Conference.
Finally came Sectionals it was state tournament time. This is what all the conditioning, drilling, and practices were for this very tournament. I was seeded number two and I

Wrestling is tough, it is a sport much from its participants, but if one has the courage to step out on the mat dressed in a uniform that leaves a little imagination and challenge another human to a match to see who the better man is. Danger can be found in every sport, and wrestling are no more prone to injury’s to soccer, football, track stars, lacrosse. Wrestling creates a sense of accountable for one’s actions. Those that work hard, succeed. There is no one to hide behind; every flaw and mistake is brought forth in a match. It takes a great deal of mental toughness and sacrifice nights with friends for extra practice and consideration, favorite food to lose the extra pound, and sleep when one needs to wake up at 4am to go for a run before school begins. That competitive nature of clashing with another human being creates a sense of community within the wrestling world. Those that have never participated in the sport have a tough time understanding this. Opponents’ must shake hands before and after, showing respect for the other fighter, win or lose. It is uncommon to see administration in the form of an embrace even after one has lost a tough battle. These values are created through combative sports, and stay with a wrestle for the remainder of their…

My wrestling journey through Camanche started at a young age. It was my kindergarten year and the class was getting flyers passed out to sign up for a series of different winter sports. I took the form home to my Dad and asked him if I could wrestle. Wrestling was a new sport to my family, for nobody wrestled before me. From that point on started attending wrestling…

The team and I approached the starting line but as we approached it I remembered what the team told me once. “Competition gets harder the further the team goes” they once said which made me realize we had made it so far in the competition. It was now league finals, the hardest meet a cross country team can run. I was suddenly in my ready position at the starting line. Then, the gun went off.…

I had a rough draft made, but I decided it didn't go with how I was feeling with everything going on. I decided to write the paper that would prove to my mother why I should continue to do wrestling. I had many ideas that I wrote down like quotes that apply, but I didn't realize till after I wrote the ideas down, that I was wasting too much time thinking of what to write than actually typing the paper. I thought about the people that made me realize that I want to continue to wrestling. I got the sense of why wrestling can help me learn things that I can use for the future. "It's that kind of sport where you look in the mirror and you either see a winner or a loser" I was told from a wise man I met at a wrestling match. Learning to be confident is part of winning or losing a match. Usually whoever put more hours of work into wrestling, it's a most guaranteed win. But everybody makes mistakes and that's when part of confidence comes in. Wrestling teaches many things that other sports doesn't always. I think it's one of the hardest, but most rewarding sports anyone can participate in. "Always improving" my coach always tells me. Like in writing my teacher explains, "It's never finished; it's just due." I'm starting to fathom how wrestling applies to many things in…

Everyday I would go to class enthusiastic and eager to learn which helped me become pretty good, and then after a few months I approached my yellow belt mark of my TKD journey. At this point, I was 12 years old and met a certain height requirement , so I was required to move up to the adult class. I was really excited to move up finally, but as a yellow belt, we were first introduced to the concept of sparring with gear on which I was not excited about. This was definitely not as glamorous as Jaden Smith had made it in the movie! In this new class I was surrounded by experienced students with higher belts like red to black belts who were the cause of my fear.…

I remember those long, horrible terrible days spent at wrestling camp. The combined smell of over 50 boys working out IS hard to forget, after all. I was a mediocre wrestler at best (still am in fact), but even I knew these guys were on a tier far higher than I could ever hope to reach. While I was there, I got all beat up, exhausted, and even cried. I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep up with these guys. But I’d’ve rather died than not try.…

The old timers had often said that I was one of the most technical wrestlers that they had ever witnessed. Unfortunately, somewhere between the countless hours of brutal practice at such a young age, my ambition to wrestle diminished. An immaculate amount of people have speculated as to why I gave up the sport of wrestling, but, to put it in the simplest of words, I just became burned out on the sport. In the hours spent grinding away to become the best possible wrestler, I never had the opportunity to do the things that most kids are granted to do. Having the time to watch movies, attend sleepovers, and ride a bike down the trails at the state park was always inaccessible. My failure to do the things that most children were able to do ultimately put out the fire that kindled deep inside me. However, the livestock industry re-fueled my ambition to be successful in a competition. Along with being a competitor, the livestock industry granted me the opportunity to enjoy the little things in life like developing friendships that can perceiver throughout the eternity of my…

It was the summer of 2017, where I was in the plane travelling to Israel for two weeks with my boyfriend at the time. It was going to be a tough tournament as I was competing against women who have any age, when I was only sixteen. My goal of the tournament was to achieve a world ranking. I had to start from qualification, which I succeeded in by beating three girls. The final round to make the main draw of the tournament, I was up against a local Israeli girl, in which there was an overwhelming crowd support for her. There were no doubts that I was driven by my goals and dreams with heart in it and also had just as much support from my boyfriend at the time, who also competed in the men’s tournament. The location…

My head ached with pain. The pain beats in a rhythm like a heart beat. I was so nervous. I went downstairs to the kitchen, finding a plate of food and no one was there. There was a note on the table that said "Good luck on your game! From Alize and Tiffany". I smiled. I ate my food and went to the gym. After I went to the gym, I started heading toward the Coca-Cola James Coliseum. I could see fans waving at me while I was driving towards the V.I.P. parking area. Fans were screaming of joy to see me. "Good Luck Champ!" A fan said. I walked in the stadium after changing into my boxing clothes. The crowd screaming. Cameras flashing light so bright. And Alexander on the other side. "Welcome to Coca-Cola James Stadium!" The announcer yelled. "Today, we got two champions fighting against each other. James against Alexander!" The crowd screamed louder than a lions roar. I felt nervous. This was the final moment. I can finally beat my school…
