Monday- I am ready to stat week 4!! I like being in the office but I prefer being in the back. It entirely too much drama going on in here today. The woman training me is really on her last strike and she just seems to be getting on everyone nerves (including mines). I look forward to a better tomorrow.…
Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…
Imaging its a beautiful day in December you wake up to the calming cold crisp feelings of the air the snow is like tiny angels falling from the heavens. You walk down stairs to the welcoming aroma of breakfast filling your lungs as you walk into the dining room your mouth water like the Niagara Falls. You look around only to soon realize that you are home alone with a note on the refrigerator from your parents "we're off to the store we'll be back in less than an hour there is breakfast on the table" after she eat she goes back upstairs to wash up she gets dressed and walks down stairs to encounter her parents are home she notices that they are both unhappy and asks what is wrong she her mouth looks at her and tells her to sit down next to…
My mother, “Regina Hopkins,” has been a positive influence in my life. She has raised 6 kids all by herself as well as earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a City College in Gainesville, Florida. My mother has been through pretty much everything a person can go through outside of war and was still able to be there and provide for all 6 of her kids. In high school, my mother wanted to play football and couldn't because she was a girl and back-in-the-day women were not allowed to play football with the guys. However, she remained strong by raising 6 kids and independently took care of all of us on her own. My mother has several qualities that I would love to develop. The first quality she has is balance; she certainly knows how to make…
Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…
When I was about twelve years old, I started playing volleyball at the YMCA. I was the worst one on the team, but my dad always encouraged me to do my best anyway. When I was , my dad decided to do a very brave thing: he volunteered to coach my volleyball team. He had absolutely no experience coaching or even playing volleyball, except for the occasional game on the beach, but after staying at practices every week to help me improve, he decided he would coach my team himself. He spent hours reading up on the rules of volleyball, he watched countless coaching videos, and he even bought one of those Coaching Volleyball for Dummies books.…
I wake up in my bed in my Yugioh bed comforter which over night I managed to completely roll into a ball and I was on it with several other blankets on me. Soon right after this, I suddenly get a burst of energy remembering that my mom said that the kids were coming over to spend the night today. I got out of my bed very hastily and went out into the living room. I soon realized that Mom and Steve were not up yet. So I decided, to go play some PlayStation 2 while I wait for them to wake up, soon I got bored playing Sonic Gems collection and decided to just wait on the couch. I waited on this couch for what seemed like hours but in, reality was only like 30 minutes. Soon my mom went out of her bedroom to get some coffee, of course I berated…
My second day of clinical, I got the opportunity to go to Jane’s House and do physical assessments on children. I was first skeptical because I know I love working with infants and adolescents, but was unsure about toddlers. I learned that I absolutely love working was toddlers and brainstorming ways to get the assessment complete, yet remain professional. I truly think I want to work in pediatrics. Some ways I remained professional with the children was building that therapeutic communication to a gain knowledge about what they enjoy to be able to complete the assessments. For example, I had a three-year-old that had a lot of energy and really liked to talk about ghost busters and green gew. Some people may become frustrated with this, yet…
The religion that I was raised is Baptist. I have heard that southern Baptists are very strict but I did not ever have to do anything strict. My parents took me to church when I was younger but after about the age of 10 I rarely went again. They got divorced and it was really hard for my mom to raise us and work all the time, so I guess church went out the window. However I have always believed in God and I try to always do the right thing. I pray at night, but I still do not attend church even though I would like to. For a while I did analyze religion too much and I questioned if he was real, but after the stories I’ve heard of people dying and being revived they say they went to heaven. This made me a strong…
Growing up with a family that loved baseball, with a dad that played college baseball and also coached the game it made me want to be the next Derek Jeter. I wanted to be the best of the best! It was my very first love, it's what I grew up doing. Ever since I was really young I had aspirations for playing at the college level and beyond that. On July 2nd, 2015 my life was changed due to the publicly acclaimed worst baseball injury in history, Tommy John. I had tore my right ulnar collateral ligament in the middle of a game. This devastating news would easily break the spirits of any other player, but as each day passed my drive to succeed became unstoppable. Dealing with this prolonged injury…
Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…
The illusion of invulnerability is one of the largest causes of teenage related arrests, injuries, and deaths. This was the day I realized I wasn’t untouchable.…
Track was tougher than previously believed. I sit down on the warm, grainy turf, realizing the amount of pain ahead of me. As I watch the heat before me run their hearts out, the announcer calls us forward. Right then, everything slowed down. All external stimuli was blocked out. The only thing heard was my heartbeat. Blood rushed through my body towards my feet and legs. A tingling sensation began in my stomach. My hands started to calm down, along with all the nerves in my upper body. The sprinting form started to go through my head. The slender man dressed in a shady rain coat and glowy hair pointed the gun towards the sun. Runners from different schools sized up their opponents. A certain feeling went through the air, like a ghost telling…

This summer was bad. I had a few incidents occur. So the first one was not as bad as the second one. I rode my bike to the Iowa Falls pool. It was a great day just hanging out with my friends and chilling in the cold water. I did multiple things like riding the waterslides and going off the diving boards. I had to leave around five o’clock. Once five o’clock rolled around I packed up my things and headed on my way. I decided to take a shortcut so that I would get home faster. The shortcut was a bike/walking trail. So I was just cruising along until some people appeared out of nowhere. Of course I swerved to avoid hitting them. When this happened I just so happened to be on a bridge and because of my swerving I hit the side rail…
