I am striving towards a bachelor’s in healthcare administration without an education, my career path is limited. Therefore, finishing my degree will open more opportunities for my future. To advance myself in the future I have set my personal career plan to healthcare administration. I have always been involved in healthcare. After working many years as a certified nursing aide I realized that I would enjoy doing administrative work instead, and be more of a manager in healthcare. As a healthcare administrator, you have to be a diverse person, because you work and deal with clients and employees with different cultures and beliefs. Everyone has a right to his or her opinion and work ethics. Leaders know how to motivate, teach, inspire, and encourage an organization to accomplish the goals of the organization. As a leader in my future career I will provide proper guidance to succeed and to teach individuals to strive to accomplish goals. In the last five weeks at University of Phoenix, I have learned how to be a successful student, which can transform me into an efficient professional in my career. Being a successful student is important to my personal career plan. There are various different strategies that a student can use to achieve success. Completing a bachelor’s degree will improve prospects for my career path, but the degree must be in line with the career I desire. Without a clear path to the correct degree for the industry, I am looking to work in then potential employers will not recognize I am focused and dedicated to

Conducting a time analysis was a pretty eye opening experience for me. I analyzed my time from Saturday 6/15 through Friday 6/21. As a family man, the fact that I spend a great deal of my time, over half, during the course of a week working and sleeping is somewhat unsettling (see Figure 1 – Weekly Time Analysis). I spend an average of 55 hours per week working, a minimum of 11 hours each day, 5 days a week. I slept approximately 5-6 hours per night, a total of 40 hours for the week. The combination of the two is about 56.5% of my week’s time. Studying took up around 20 hours or approximately 12 %. I spent 7 hours in my car during the week, which was to and from work for the most part. Family time, eating, and recreation was a total of 43 combined hours or 25.6%. “Other” consisted of a handful of other activities and was about 3 hours of my week. Seeing how few hours I actually spend with my family doesn’t sit well. Yet, knowing I work the long hours I do for the betterment of my family makes it all worth it.…

Throughout life one will encounter many experiences and there is a lesson within each of those experiences. Right now as an activity aide in a nursing home my passion is to make sure each and every resident gets some sort of enjoyment out of their day whether it’s from reading the newspaper, having coffee outside or its getting their nails painted. I just want to make sure their day has some activity that they enjoy. My dream job after graduation is to work in a hospital in the palliative care/hospice as a social worker. In this setting I will still get to make sure the last months, days, and hours of my clients will be comfortable, peaceful and the way the patient and their families would like it to be. Leadership is as “an influence relationship among leaders and followers who intend real changes and outcomes that reflect their shared purposes” defined by Daft, R. L. (2011). Ethical leadership is to understand your core values and to have the courage to encompass them in all aspects of your life; including your career are honesty, integrity and compassion. Leadership and motivation styles vary from person to person, that is why it is essential for managers to know and understand their leadership style and how their particular leadership affects their workplace. Leadership is influenced by many things that are why it is so important to know how and why your leadership style is what it is. I feel that I have some strength that can help me with a leadership plan such as identify effective leadership mission, values, planning and goal-setting, delegating authority, team building, giving feedback, coaching team members, motivating people, working for the team, and resolving conflict. There are many contributors that come into play when a leadership style is developed within a person. Not…

When I was younger, I measured my success by how much money I made. More recently, I measure my success by a balance between my work life and the amount of quality family time I can obtain. When I started the University of Phoenix, last January, I wrote a paper similar to this discussing my career goals and why I was returning to school to obtain my degree. My goal was to become a sales manager in the New Home Building Industry. I wasn 't sure how I was going to get there, but I wanted to make sure that I had all of the needed qualifications to achieve this goal. Obtaining my degree was one of these qualifications.…
