Personal Responsibility to me is accepting that I must not allow anything to get in between me and my goals. By utilizing all available resources I must do not only what I need to succeed in life, but as well take care of everything that is expected of me. Personal responsibility is being smart and using common sense, time management and focus. Time management is also a huge part of making sure that my responsibilities get handled. Jon Maxwell states that “Time management is an oxymoron. Time is beyond our control, and the clock keeps ticking regardless of how we lead our lives. Priority management is the answer to maximizing the time we have”. I agree as a single mother I have accepted the fact that there is never enough time in the day to accomplish everything I might wish to do. It is my responsibility to prioritize. I must set aside the time to be a mother, a student and fulfill many others roles.
As a mother one of my biggest responsibilities is my son. Caring for a 2 year old with Autism is a challenge. I must provide everything that he needs such as food, a home, entertainment, time and love. But along with all of that I have therapy appointments to get him to as well as his speech assistance. These things are very expensive so I have to work hard.
As a student I must take the responsibility to give my studies the time and focus needed for me to successfully reach my educational goals. Although pursuing an online degree helps me by allowing the flexibility to take classes when it fits my schedule it is my responsibility to set that said schedule and stick to it. I must give myself the time and an environment that is conducive to learning. I also have to take into consideration my responsibility to others that might have some role in my education such as group projects or scheduled time with advisors.
I have the personal responsibility to keep myself healthy. Rest is very important as
