Personal Statement: A Career As A Medical Assistant
1. What is your understanding of the role of the Medical Assistant in a medical setting?
Medical assistants play a big role in day-to-day operations of hospitals, health care facilities, and physician’s offices. Medical assistants have a set of different special skills that allows them to treat patients with various ailments such as injuries, and chronic conditions. MA’s also respond to medical emergencies, assist patients and their families.
Medical Assistants role fall into two categories administrative or clinical. MA’s do not perform the same procedures as a higher level health care provider. Medical Assistants recorded patient’s current symptoms, risk factors, and other concerns that will help primary physicians determine a treatment plan or accurate diagnosis. MA’s explain medical matters with patients and their families. They also prepare patients for examinations. They take the weight, height, temperature of patients before doctor’s visit. I love to help out others. I like to work with children because they always put a smile on my face. Working as a medical assistant takes a lot of heart, dedication, and patients. Ever since I was little I always wanted to become a doctor, medical assistant, nurse, something in the medical assistant. This career is a great stepping stone into the medical field. It’s a career that I can assist people with my help- and a career I will be proud off. This career will give me the opportunity to work along doctors to help people. I also want to become a medical assistant because I can work in a variety of different settings that will allow me to develop my skills as a medical assistant, and to find the right are that fits me as a medical assistant.
