Personal Statement: A Letter To Freshman
Dear Freshman, Well, you are finally in high school! It’s the start to your high school career. How fun! Oh how it has only just begun for you. I am going to give you some tips that I have learned throughout my high school career that I wish I would have known these past few years. Whether you use these tips to your advantage or totally disregard them is completely up to you. Tip #1: Basically all the upperclassman do not care about you. When I was a freshman, I thought all the cool, older kids liked me when in reality I was still just a “dumb Freshman”. So don’t try and act like you’re all that because you aren’t even close. Just focus on getting to your class and your homework. Which leads me to my next tip: you do not need to run full speed to every class just so you won’t be late. Trust me, 4 minutes in between classes is more than enough time to get all your things together for your next class. You don’t know how many times I have been almost trampled over by freshman who think they are going to be late for their class. I am a …show more content…
Not everyone is your friend. Let me tell you a little story. When i was an 8th grader I used to have so many friends that I thought I would be friends with for the rest of my life. As the years went on, I found my circle of friends started dwindling down more and more. I now have 2 TRUE friends that I know I can go to for anything. I’ve realized throughout the years that not everyone is going to be like that and that’s okay. Do not to waste your time on people who don’t care about you, that includes boys. A lot of high schoolers spend too much time trying to find their husband rather than trying to find their bridesmaids. Don’t get me wrong, dating is a good experience and all, but don’t invest all your time and energy into someone you aren’t going to spend the rest of your life with. You deserve the world so don’t let someone treat you any way less than

One piece of advice I would say is don’t chew gum. It probably seems really stupid but do it it will save you because teachers might write you up. You probably should avoid groups of people in the hall’s because if you get in there way and they get mad you probably will end in a fight and that is probably what you shouldn’t do. Seventh grade might seem really hard but with eighth grade the test get harder, and the teachers aren’t lenient. Also in eighth grade the teacher mold you to make you ready for high school. Another thing that teachers hate is when people stand in groups of hall’s, when you're in a group in the hall it slows everyone and makes them late. Another piece of advice is make sure you're always on time to your classes. I say…

I remember the first day of my freshman year, I was scared walking into the school. I wasn’t scared to go to classes, but I was scared of the upperclassmen, especially the ones who were on the football team. After the first week though, I learned that I wasn’t much different from them and that they weren’t bad at all. So one of my advice would be not to listen to all the rumors you hear about upperclassmen and freshman hazing; those are just rumors spread around to scare people. Don’t be afraid to talk to upperclassmen if you have a question or anything.…

Today I received a message in my student email about my academic progress. I was denied Financial Aid due to my poor academic performance my 2015-2016 semester at Mesa Community College. The reason for not meeting academic requirements the previous semester was because of my lack of organization with working, sports, and studying. I take full responsibility in not putting my academics before sports and work leading me to write this letter. I truly believed I could juggle working 20 hours a week as a swim instructor and also be a student-athlete for Mesa Community College while maintaining strong grades. I soon found myself struggling in classes and doing poorly on exams because I was not using my time correctly and pushing my school work to the side. In high school I worked as a swim instructor and ran cross country as I am now, I put little effort into studying and did what I had to do to get by. Those poor habits followed me into college and are now backfiring with proof through my GPA.…

During my first year at Florida State University I plan to grow as an individual. To achieve this is not only important to fill in your head with loads of knowledge, but also to see other cultures, meet new people, discover myself, discover my weaker and/or stronger points, and squeeze my stronger abilities at my maximum to achieve my goals. I plan to help others as much as I’ve been doing until now, or even more. I believe in creating a better atmosphere where peers help each other in whatever they need. I’ve been lucky spent almost sixteen years of my life in a school where they taught me to excel by working as a team. I plan to bring these philosophy to FSU because if instead of competing with one another, we bring what we are best at to…

Through UA Early College, I believe the program can help me accomplish my goals of expanding my studies for my majors, prepare me for when I become a full time college student, and uplift my chances of being accepted into college after I graduate high school. The classes that UA Early College offers will benefit me to obtain the information I need to earn the degree for my majors. For instance, the principles of biology 1 and 2, general chemistry, and general physics 1 and 2 are all in which the courses that are required to aid my studies in health science to apply in the work force of dentistry. Also other courses that relates to fine arts would as well assist me for my other major in art so that I may one day be qualified to be an art director.…

High school was my time to stop fooling around. The first day of high school, I awoke to the aroma of coffee brewing on the stove. As I get ready to head out my sister approached me, and told me “Education is the key that opens the door many possibilities you can be and do in your near future” I was so nervous the sweat started dripping from my palms, and I suddenly felt 15 degrees hotter. I was nervous, I knew this is the time to get serious. Immediately a thought came across “ how well I do these four years can affect my entire life”. At first high school might look like a time to have fun and have no worries, which was my initial thought. Later on you start to realize that you need work hard. I thought “How would my future look? I don’t want to end up hopelessly. I want to make something of myself. Sometimes it can be hard though. I just have to work through the pain. At this point it’s make it or break it, success is my only…

As a young child, all you know about high school is how it is portrayed in the media. However, the media’s portrayal only displays the glamorous aspects of high school.
