Currently, there are about 70 million stays living in the U.S. alone. That’s about five homeless animals for every homeless American! But, only about 649,000 of the many animals that enter a shelter as strays make it back to their owners. I also want to talk about abandonment and how adoption can help these two issues. Sadly enough, anywhere from three-four million animals are abandoned and taken into shelters yearly. If you do adopt them and take them home it could just make that poor animal’s life better ten-fold. As for how adoption can help strays, if you adopt animals that were strays you may be treating them to a lifestyle they may have never experienced. The saddest part is probably the abuse or neglect of pets. Although some animals can escape from abusive owners, almost 115 million animals (Such as rats, mice, birds, cats, dogs, etc.) are killed for lab experiments. That is not even counting the thousands upon thousands of dogs, cats, and other pets that die from neglect yearly. All these issues are reasons that people should adopt
