When you see a homeless person on the streets how do you react? Do you turn your head and ignore them? Do you become angry that they are living on the streets? Do you feel frightened and avoid the situation all together? Or do you see these people as human beings and treat them in that way? But, coming to the homeless people in KL, a question triggers in me, are they Malaysian or immigrants? Well, all of us know for a matter of fact KL city is flooded with foreigners from our neighboring countries who came to find job opportunities. Where do they live? What do they do? They love the easy street life, its a laid back environment, you don't have to slog, no need for the use of brain (just beg along the alley), sleep by the pavement of a high-rise building and free food too (soup kitchen and etc.). What could be the solution for this, how developed is the public policy in relation to homelessness in Kuala Lumpur? Homelessness should be a public policy issue because according to the UN-HABITAT, 100 years from 1950 to 2050 will be remembered for the greatest social, cultural, economic and environmental transformation in history – the urbanization of humanity. With half of us now occupying the urban space, the future of the human species is tied to the city. How we plan and govern our cities will determine whether our collective future will be bright and sustainable or brutal and chaotic (2007, p.5). Anyone or everyone could end up being homeless, so how do we put an end to it
