Persuasive Essay: Four Day School Week
Four day School Week
Businesses have adapted a four day work week consisting of ten hours a day to conserve energy and resources. Our school is making the choice whether or not they want to take off Friday or Monday from school and just have a four day school week. If the school decided to do this each school day would be an extra two hours. The school would also have a lot of different opinions from the students so, before any decision is made to make the three day weekend the principle should ask the students in some way so they can be sure everyone is on board with the idea. There are a lot of examples why this change in the school could be a good or bad thing. Students get tired of sitting in class already so before every class they should have an extra five

Students could be gathered in an auditorium and told about all of the different opinions the staff have then have them write whether or not it’s a good idea. After all of the votes are in I would add them up and make my choice. The school could even make it temporary and see the results and how the students respond. Having school at night with an extra two hours would be a bigger step but it would be awesome and teach students a lot of different skills like working in the morning and making it to places on time. There are multiple advantages and disadvantages to a four day school week. If the school did or did not choose to have a four day school week I personally wouldn’t care because either way you make up all of your missed school days with the extra two hours a day. I think the school would have a lot of changes and different routines to go by in order to make every day go by smoothly. Also the staff would have to be even more ready for the assignments and things they have to prepare to

Would you classify yourself as a “Monday-Hater”? A vast majority of students immensely detest Monday because it signifies the end of a relaxing weekend and the beginning of another stressful, busy week. However, if a four day school week was implemented then Monday could be tagged on to the weekend and everyone would become “Tuesday-Haters”. Woodbury High School (WHS) would benefit from a switch to a four day school week because it would save District 833 money, increase student attendance, and decrease the amount of stress in students.…

Some people claim that it will raise scores because of the idea students will be more attentive in school, thus increasing their intellect. Despite these claims, the test scores of students do not significantly increase or decrease. Similar to Beesley and Anderson 's suggestion, it seems that schools save money while maintaining comparable test scores. (The Four-Day School Week: Information and Recommendations, pg. 26). Overall, it seems as though the benefits of a four-day school week are strong enough for it to pull through despite the fact it doesn 't dramatically increase test…

If four day weeks were introduced to schools, the students and schools will both benefit. The schools will save a significant amount of money and students will excel academically and behavior will improve drastically. Whenever we have a student/teacher holiday, less students are absent and behave because they are looking forward to less days of the week. When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

The traditional schedule for school is outdated because in the old days, it allowed for children to help harvest crops during the summer. Now, the long summer just enables kids to be lazy and easily forget what they learned at the end of the previous school year. If a year round school year were to be implemented, kids would not be able to be as lazy and breaks would not be so long as to let kids forget a whole bunch of their school curriculum.…

I believe that school should stay the way it currently is. With school the way it currently is students still have time after school. Students will still have time for sports after school and other school related functions. If school started later in the day and ended later students wouldn't have hardly any time after school for things such as sports, socializing, and spending time with there families. After students get up early for a week or so they would get used to it and their bodies would adapt to the change.…

Since the beginning of the school year, the district has been undertaking all the different ideas that the parents want for their kids to get more sleep. However, a later start shouldn't be the answer because it has numerous major conflicts with activities, free time, and other aspects that take part in teen and adolescents lives. Students everywhere would like a later start, even if it's minor. The district sees this, but superfluous conflicts continue to materialize if the final decision is to do the delay in the morning. However, another solution that could give the youth a chance to get rest and still keep up with their activities, would to have an early release every Friday. Instead of having a two-hour late start every month, a better resolution would be to shorten the school day at the end of the week. This would allow students to spend time with family and friends, get all their homework done, and maybe even get a nap in before the weekend even starts. Littleton Public Schools district should decide an answer to this problem they have been working on, but still consider all the different solutions and opinions before determining the final…

Also there could be a week break between each marking period, so that the kids can still relax but without forgetting everything. Im sure the teachers will be asking about there salary as well, most teachers don't get paid a lot and if we don't raise the salary they could leave our school. So we can ask the government for money to help pay the teachers, raising taxes just a little bit, can help out education a…

I think that starting the school day later would greatly benefit the students and teachers. if we started school at about say nine thirty in the morning instead of eight thirty or earlier, that would mean that most students wouldn't need to be awake in the morning till almost seven thirty to eight thirty and some kids could even wake up a little later then that depending on where they live. granite it is proven that high school students only need six to eight hours of sleep each night but there is always that few that never get the six to eight hours of sleep.…

As modern society advances at astonishing rates, it is a common occurrence that many mandated policies are rarely reviewed, and often become outdated. One of the best instances of this could be depicted by the modern school year. The school year was optimized for a different time, and as such, needs to be changed. The change to an all year school would allow for improved learning, greater knowledge, and an increased number of breaks throughout the school year. In the US, about 43% of schools have a four day school week. There are many concerns on this situation. People don't see most of the effects of this decision. I believe that our schools should remain as is because there is no interference with after school activities, and vacation time is longer, and no economic concerns.…
