It is true that you’re not competing for anything and you’re just on the sideline being a cheerleader, but all the after school practices and conditioning that you have to do to make the cheerleading team is a lot. For instance, “Cheerleading, team activity in which elements of dance and acrobatics are combined with shouted slogans in order to entertain spectators at sporting events and to encourage louder and more-enthusiastic cheering.” (Laura Anne Grindstaff).It takes a lot to be a successful cheerleader so I don’t know why people wouldn’t consider it as a sport.

Every friday night we have a game that we have to be at. We have to go through 4 quarters that are 12 minutes long to support our team. Just because we stand on the track and cheer doesn’t mean a thing. We get tired just like the football players, so why not consider cheerleading a sport? “While neither cheerleading association has called for competitive cheerleading to be declared a sport, some coaches and cheerleaders are pushing for that recognition.” (Adrienne Coles) so that means that it’s making it hard on us because we are trying to strive to success.
