Persuasive Essay: Non-Traditional College Vs. Technical College
Abstract

High school and non-traditional students are faced with the choice of either to attend a technical college or a four year university as a way to increase their education and marketability when seeking a job. There has been an increase in the number of students choosing a technical college over a four year university due to cost, non-traditional students, job placement rate, and teacher to student ratio.

For some student, your junior and senior year of high school is spent with trying to make the decision to go to a technical college or a four year university. The more people you talk to the more opinions you will receive. Most opinions are that a four year will give you a better experience

There are many things to consider when making one of the most important decisions you will make in your life. A person should consider the cost, and their financial situation, the time they want to spend in school, why they are going to school or their career choice, and also the experience they are trying to achieve.
The cost is one of the biggest factors for students. The cost of a four year university will be much higher than a technical college. The total savings when choosing a technical college can amount to almost 60%-70% less than you would spend at a four year university.. Along with the cost, you need to consider your financial situation, many non-traditional student or adults are returning to school as displaced workers trying to find a new

To earn a degree from a technical college the average student is looking at a one to two year degree. While in a four year school, the average person is looking at four to five years to earn a bachelors degree and than going right into a master’s degree to compete with the hundreds of applicants. Technical schools focus on preparing the students to enter the workforce after graduation.
According to survey conducted by the CCSSE, more than two-thirds of the community college students are willing to ask questions in class or join in discussions, compared to only half of the four year students.. It is also stated that students feel that staff are more willing to interact with students. Students are also more likely to get a response from teachers during and outside of class.
For many students Technical College is a better option for their post secondary education. Technical colleges can cut down on cost, put you into your desired career quicker and offer you the support of a smaller more personable
