Persuasive Essay On Black Crime
As a criminal justice professor, I am often engaged in conversations about crime in the black community. Many ask the reason so many black men are incarcerated; why are black people less concerned with black on black crime yet overly concerned when a black person is killed by an individual of another race? The questions seem to be neverending, especially during the current uprisings related to the police killings of unarmed black men across America.

The answers are never simple; many of them in fact are extremely complex. However, the answer that most people are waiting to hear is that black people, specifically black males deserve to die in the most horrific ways possible. Yet, since the forced relocation to the Americas, horrific deaths of black men seems to be a common occurrence.

Acceptance of responsibility begins with the courage to denounce actions and terms that continue to vilify us as a people. The continued escalation of crimes committed in our homes and communities by people of color is an action that needs to cease immediately. The deep rooted anger that blacks have for each other is extremely damaging and only helps to annihilate the black community. Terms that we have embraced such as nigger, thug, goon, and even the term black on black crime paints a very vivid picture of how little respect we have for ourselves and one another. The current rap industry continues to plague us with these terms by describing other black entertainers, black athletes, and black women. If we are publicly showing so much disrespect for ourselves, how can we possibly expect respect from others? Not only are other ethnicities disrespectful to people of color but some have even gone as far as using our ignorance for financial

The number of black men murdered are greater than that of the combination of white and hispanic victims. These individuals were not killed by the hands of authorities, however; by the hands of their fellow citizens. Black males that are still in there teens commit one of the biggest crimes which is homicide and they commit it more times than whites and hispanics put together. Even though all we see over the media are black individuals getting killed by an officer that is not necessarily true because 987 individuals who were killed in 2015 50% of those victims were white and 26% were of African descent. In America blacks held the most percentile crime rate out of other minority groups and only had 15% of the population.…

Today, the number of deaths including black people in custody has continued and black people are disproportionally stopped and searched on streets. After the case of Macpherson life for the black community was expected to change, however to some it is known that the changes have been extremely disappointing. Black people feel they are less likely to get a decent job, they feel they are treated disproportionally by police, by being stopped and searched and within communities (Janet et al,…

    Why Do Black Lives Matter

A black person is killed every 28 hours, and black men between ages 19 and 25 are the group most at risk to be gunned down by the police. Based on data from the center on juvenile and criminal justice, young blacks are 4.5 times more likely to be killed by police than any other age or racial groups. The reason that black lives matter is because African-Americans are killed more in this world than any other race. An example would be if you put a young white man and a 3 young black man who are dressed the same together, the young black man would have a greater chance of being stopped just because of his race. This is because of the color of his skin it causes a lot of suspicion and the mindset that many whites have is that many blacks are dangerous and can't be trusted.…

In a society as culturally diverse as the one we live in, you would think that people would learn to be more accepting of others. Nevertheless, there are still those who simply cannot. In his essay Black Men and Public Space, Brent Staples describes something that most young black men experience on more than one occasion in their lives. Being perceived as a criminal simply based on his "unwieldy inheritance", the color of their skin.…

Felons should not have the right to vote while in prison, but when they get out of prison they should be able to apply for restitution, so that they can get their rights back. No-one that is guilty of any crime should be allowed to vote until they have finished serving their punishment. If you have done something to wrong the country than one of the punishment should be losing the privilege to vote, because by voting people make decisions for the country. People who can’t be trusted should definitely not be trusted by the country shouldn’t be making decisions for the country.…

Throughout my life and being a product of the public school system I have learned a lot about race, and how we should all be accepting of other peoples race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, culture, and their identity. A model citizen should not do anything to harm another person both mentally and physically. Recently, statistics and other studies show that African Americans commit many crimes now a days. They find them selves in the midst of some of the biggest felonies such as murder, prostitution, extortion, burglaries, home-invasions, etc. African Americans used to be the victims of all the attacks during the early 1900’s but now they are ususally the criminals who leave other victims in fear.…

I selected this topic, because out of all the cause of deaths, one that seem to stand out the most are senseless killings in the Urban Black Neighborhood area; where most crimes are related to youth killing one another in gang crime, and now this which involved police shooting unarmed young black males, and similar killing seems to be spreading statewide. Yet, not forgetting how Martin Luther King Jr, was killed. Therefore, disgusting the past events dealing with discrimination of a race and it’s effortless fight alongside activist and protesters are in search of answers. Yet, demand for peace and equal quality for black citizens.…

This is a country where many unarmed civilians have suffered injuries or been killed at the hands of police officers. Drastic changes are needed to solve the issue of police brutality. Such excessive force by police officers is very disturbing to the community. People around the country are fighting for a country where law enforcement treats all communities with dignity, employs restraint on the power police officers, and only use the necessary force to maintain the community’s safety. Over the years there have many cases involving police brutality such as the cases of Rodney King, Timothy Thomas, and Eric Garner. Many people feel that nothing has changed with the issue of police brutality since juries still acquitted police officers, cops get their jobs back, and brutality happens again. But change has occurred and some things have become better as a result of it being publicized and causing public outrage.…

There will always be people who will say the criminal system is not racist, that racism ended long ago, but there will also be people who believe it is racist, has been, and continues to be that way. Although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, facts are needed to prove the truth. And even if you pick a side based on your opinion, is it true? To have a well thought out opinion, you need facts, and along with those facts, you need examples. People don’t see the major issue that goes on in the criminal system against colored people.…

Cinc is walking the streets of Grand Rapids Michigan with a mob of people protesting about “ black lives matter “. Some people don’t believe in black lives matter, some people believe in “all lives matter “. Cinc believes that is true but the “ black lives matter “ is a different subject. Of course everyone matters on earth but black people have been getting treated unfairly and poorly. They've been getting killed by police officers and the deputy's haven't been getting consequences. This is way more than “ all lives matter.” Pretend you wake up and you get a phone call late at night from a family member or police a department saying “your son/daughter has been killed by police for no reason” and the officer doesn't get any punishment. You…

Racism wasn't the best idea back then and now. Racism is bad to people who are different race. If they were black they got made fun of for being slaves. If you were Mexican you got made fun of for coming to America. If you were born in Iraq and came down you would be called a terrorist people would think that you would bomb us or bomb our building. If you were white you would be the main person making fun of others because you were rich and had all the money. If you were whit and you acted redneck people would make fun of you cause you would do things with your cousins. People make fun of other races cause you didn't belong with the others. Blacks and whites were separated cause they would think that cause…
