There are now more Mcdonalds in the world than churches. Over the years, a new disease started plaguing the world. Obesity is a huge problem all over the world. The population is growing, and not only in number. The solution to this problem relies on the people themselves. The population needs to be taught about how to improve their diet and how to exercise effectively. People need to know how these changes will benefit their lives. The population of obese people in the world has grown drastically over the past couple of decades. According to Joan Gunin “ The percentage of young people who are overweight has more than tripled since 1980 with 16%- approximately 9 million children and teens 6 to 19- considered overweight.’’(12) This is huge growth in the obese population and it is even more alarming that this growth is also among children. If these numbers keep on growing at these frightful rates, then who knows what the world will be like in the next couple of decades. If obesity is not controlled, then the world will have a big problem on its hands. The problem is not just with children and teens, according to Abhishek Saynal the more alarming numbers are with adults. “ Obesity has reached pandemic proportions with 1.9 billion overweight adults; 600 million of whom are considered obese.”Adults are the bigger part of this problem and make up the majority of these ever growing numbers.
