Persuasive Essay On Trophys
Trophies are so satisfying when you receive one, but is it too far for a kid to get a trophy just for showing up? Yes it is, and there are numerous reasons to support this opinion. In particular, getting the same trophy other players are rewarded as well shows nothing worth awarding. Furthermore, trophies are not suppose to be an easy thing to achieve, or that demolishes the purpose of a trophy. I feel coaches give players too many trophies.

To start things of, a trophy is meant for a particular subject, for example, best offensive player or best defensive player. Whereas if a coach gave a certain trophy to a group of kids on a team, or the team as a whole, where is the awarding in that? You can't just give a trophy labeled “best” or “most” to a bunch of kids instead of a particular player, that ruins

They’re not for doing something miniscule, like showing up, they are for highly valued things, like “most touchdowns this season” or “most goals made this season”. On the other hand, giving a “participation trophy” is inferior and teaches kids if they just try their best in life, or not at all, they will earn something great. Now that's not how life works at all. Additionally, participation awards are a bad choice because you have to give it to all of the players. I understand that giving a participation award to kids can make them not want to quit, but coaches are going overboard on the idea. Most coaches will give out participation awards until kids reach middle school, I feel that middle school is a extremely late time to stop this practice. The best time to stop this practice would approximately 4th grade, because that is when kids start to understand life and the world around them much greater. Next, in some cases, you will find players that are bad sports and are mean to other teammates and even coaches, and giving them a trophy, even if they have bad attitude, is the wrong move to make when it comes to giving out

Not to mention they have to do nothing, Kids don’t try as hard at sports. For kids to get a trophy now-a-days they only have to show up to the practices and games. They don’t have to do anything except participate in the games. Also in addition to kids doing nothing, It’s unfair for those kids that actually want to try and get better instead of getting a trophy. For some teams when kids don’t try the coaches have permission to say they can’t…

Should everyone get a participation trophy? According to the "trophy's for all" policy, youth athletes are being awarded trophys for participating in a sport. Trophy's shouldn’t be given to everyone. Participation trophy's lose their meanings at times. People don’t get promotions for just showing up. On the other hand parents and coaches think that participation trophy's are motivating to youth athletes. Handing out trophies is a waste of time if youth athletes are not going to put in the effort to at least earn the trophy.…

Rewarding Mediocrity is dangerous, especially with kids, because it will shape their expectation to be winning trophies in everything they attend. Because as a kid, they will ask themselves “ I have achieved this big trophy, why don’t I have this one?” and over the time there will be 2 things can happen. One is this kid will have a mindset of winning and have narcissistic about themselves about being number one, then when they attend a true competition or selective events, they will extremely disappointed and criticize with themselves hardly if they’re not a winner or if this kid is actually a top performance and see what they get is exactly the same with who did not try, they will ask themselves “why I need to work hard while what I…

Do you do things for the fun of it or for a prize? Many kids think they should get a trophy. Parents think otherwise they think getting a trophy is sending the wrong message. Imagine, if you were the star player and worked every game, got the same amount of appreciation or the same reward as the player who has sat the bench basically the whole season. Doesn't sound too fair, right ? According to the "Trophies for All" policy, youth athletes are being awarded with participation trophies. Handing out trophies for just showing up doesn't teach the kids about the real world. As well, trophies can lose their meaning if everyone gets one. Finally, participation trophies use thousands of dollars that can be useful for other important needs. On the other hand, some people believe that rewarding youth athletes (that don't participate) with a trophy is acceptable. Even more, every child should get an equal amount of appreciation.Youth athletes get rewarded with participation trophies for simple matters and this is unacceptable.…

Should we really give kids trophies when they really don't deserve them? So here’s a question, what is very expensive, teaches kids to be greedy, and takes up room, don't know? It’s trophies!. Heres another example, should kids get trophies for showing up and not even putting a valid effort and not exceeding to a good athletic ability. Kids are becoming greedy fast due to the lack of effort, and still get rewarded. Because in life people don't get rewarded for showing up, and kids should not get trophies for participation because trophies lose their value when everyone gets one.…

Today, I heard about a participation argument over trophies being gave for participating in sports. They get a trophy for playing the sport when they did not earn it. Parents don’t realize what they are doing to their kids by just giving them things without and work or earning it. I myself am against the idea of trophies for playing a sport or something unless you or your team did earn it.…

Giving a participation trophy to these young athletes for everything they do in life, can teach them that they will get a reward for doing what is required. There shouldn't be a promise of getting a reward at the end for doing what is told. Instead, there should be a reward for doing what isn't told, but is required. Mentioned in "The Great Trophy Debate; Do We Need Participation Awards?" By John…

Some would argue that having all the kids get a trophy is showing the kid that they completed the season and that they did good, In reality the trophy is for getting through the season with hard work and doing good. Not for doing bad. Remember the next time kids go and play a game and get a trophy, Think! The kids lives will not work like that in the future, and the trophies will not be as important when everyone gets one. Everyone shouldn’t get trophies. Instead of having everyone get a trophy, the people who try should get the trophy. Talk to a coach…

Youth athletes often become less interested in their sport if every one receives the same participation trophy for working hard ,or just showing up. If everyone gets a participation trophy, the trophy will loose its meaning and be less valuable to young athletes. The athlete will think it just something else and maybe use as a door stopper.…

This isn’t meant to enter into the “trophy for participation debate” (you can read a good perspective on that here). Nonetheless, related is the idea that some parents are a bit too protective. This stems from good intentions no doubt, but the end result can be damaging to the young people, especially as they age. Helping our children experience failure and defeat as something that should never derail them is an immensely valuable lesson. We will always fall somewhere in our life, and probably frequently. Helping them see this as an opportunity and not something to be feared has great value. If you can’t do this, you may want to rethink allowing your kids to participate in youth…

Overall, I believe that giving kids trophies for just participating is a bad thing. At a young age, kids have to learn to lose or just participate and get no reward for it. Winning and getting a trophy for it teaches them that if they do a good job and are successful at their certain sport, they will be rewarded for it. Losing teaches kids a great asset in life because life isn't all about sunshine and candy and rainbows. Life is tough and kids have to learn quickly that failure just another part of…

What goes through a child’s mind when they receive a trophy? Is it how hard they worked to be recognized or that they are just being a part of a group? In society there is an arising opinion that not all children participating in activities should receive a trophy. According to Reasons-Rupe Poll, “57 percent of Americans say only winning, and deserving kids should receive awards. Another 40 percent say all kids on a sports team should receive a trophy for their participation” (Ekins). These views are a result of many children showing a feeling of entitlement, an increased cost of programs, and lack of ambition.…
