As woman who has lived in the Colony of Georgia all of my 17 years, I strongly believe we should declare independence from Great Britain. Great Britain has placed unconstitutional taxes on us, both internal and external. The intolerable acts were used to try to control everything we do, and allow that royal officials are exempt from their own trials by moving the trials elsewhere, so witnesses could not testify. If we secede from Great Britain we can have our own laws and our government. My entire life I have worked hard to help my family earn money, and I have made handmade clothes, cloth, shoes and more when we boycotted British goods. The Stamp Act and Townshend Act have taken most of the little money we have, and Soldiers have overrun our home and eaten the some of the already meager food supply we have. My little brothers and sisters are starving; they cry all night and you can count every one of their ribs. I strongly believe we should secede from the British Empire.
The colonists should secede from the British Empire because without them there will be no more unconstitutional taxations. There have been many acts for unconstitutional taxations such as the Stamp Act and the Townshend Acts, both of which placed taxations upon the colonists, and yet colonists are not allowed representation in Parliament! This is taxation without representation! It is against the British Constitution. It is argued that the some of the taxes Great Britain places on us go to our protection, but more of them go towards repaying the British debts from the French-Indian War. The colonists could have their own taxes, lower ones that we can use to build our own armies and protect ourselves! Loyalist argue that the Colonies don’t have the of the resources to protect themselves, but if they go to war with the British Empire, the enemies of the British such as the French, who are still sore over losing Quebec, will fight
