Persuasive Speech On Fast Food
American girls today gorge on garlic reeked hamburgers, greased up pizza, deep fried oreos, and salt encrusted poisons in a bag — otherwise known as potato chips. Today, they opt towards fast food. It is atrocious they have zero conception of the pernicious effects of these foods. I believe that the prodigious amount of American girls stuffing Taco Bell in their mouths while sitting in their rooms binge watching “Gossip Girl” or “Vampire Diaries” on their MacBooks is rather alarming. It is common knowledge that eating a lot and moving too little increases one’s chances of obesity, which is the rudiment in acquiring diabetes. Essentially, one becomes fat. It is fortunate that I have devised an ultimatum for American girls to shed weight …show more content…
To make absolutely certain this method would work, a very near and dear friend I hold close to my heart helped me conduct this experiment. At first, she was rather skeptical of the experiment. However, within a month afterwards, she had lost 38 pounds and has never looked better! In fact, her crush asked her out last week! The secret is to refrain from eating while staying nourished with only water and two apples a day. I call it the apple diet. In order to justify this method, I shall explain the rather favorable results my friend achieved with this. On day seven of the experiment, my friend stepped on a scale for the first time in months. I witnessed teardrops streaming down her bambi eyes and held my breath, waiting for her to say something. She jumped off the scale and embraced me, whispering “Three pounds.” I relished in her amiable glow as she looked into the mirror and gave herself a sultry stare. She looked absolutely marvelous. On that tangent, I shall return to my proposal. I believe the advantages achieved with this method is …show more content…
America’s economy revolves around consumerism, thus prices for everything have increased dramatically every year. An American girl could save a lot of money if she decides to utilize the apple diet. For example, instead of purchasing overpriced clothing from H&M, Forever 21, and Lululemon, she could easily purchase cheaper clothes from the kid’s section at Target! There is no doubt she would fit into the clothes perfectly. Along with saving money from buying clothes, she could reduce her grocery bill! Rather than purchasing unnecessary meats, vegetables, junk foods, she would only have to purchase about a dozen apples — enough to last 4

Teenagers and children today are not only suffering from serious health issues, but also are putting their lives at risk. It is not only the fact that they choose to eat unhealthy, but more so that they have these delicious, mouthwatering, and cheap foods right in their cupboards. “Junk food”, as stated by Gregory Lopez, soared during the 1980’s and 1990’s, doubling among adults in the U.S. and tripling among children (Natural News). Studies show that the number one “Junk food” consumed by children and teenagers were Hot Cheetos. Not only may gastritis come from the consumption of Hot Cheetos, but are also at arm’s length for children, following up with health issues that are quite devastating and are also addicting, to top things off.…

The influx of easily available junk food is causing people to gain weight at a much higher rate than in previous years. In the United States today, obesity has become an enormous problem. In the last 3decades, the number of people overweight has increased dramatically. A study done by theCenters of Disease Control showed that since 1980, one third of our adult population has becomeoverweight. America is the richest but also the fattest nation in the world, and our obese backsides are the butt of jokes in every other country (Klein 28). The 1980s were a time whenAmericans suddenly started going crazy over dieting, jumping onto the treadmills, and buying prepackaged non-fat foods. However, while all of that was going on, the number of obeseAmericans began to increase. According to a report in the Journal of the American MedicalAssociation, 58 million people in our country weigh over 20 percent of their body’s ideal weight. The article “Fat Times” states, “If this were about tuberculosis, it would be called an epidemic”(Elmer-Dewit 58). The eating habits of society have steadily become more harmful and havestarted to produce gluttonous children, over-indulgent adults, and a food industry set too muchon satisfying our appetites.Obesity can begin at a very young age. Many children in our society are overweight, setting themselves up for serious health problems later in life. Type 2 diabetes, high bloodcholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart problems are just some of the risks. The target of this intervention is to cut back on fatty foods and decrease weight by exercising on a daily basis in doing so by playing basketball, consuming under 2000 calories daily and increasing the amount of green tea ingested. The benefits of performing this lifestyle change are having to be active in which the body creates endorphins, speeding metabolism and boosting up one's confidence. Many things can go wrong in this experiment. One thing to take into consideration is the influence of family and friends. They can have a positive and negative influence towards this intervention. Positive because friends and family can motivate you and help you strive with intervention. Negative, however, because some family members can cook delicious/unhealthy foods, or some friends can persuade you into eating unhealthy junk foods. I will accurately measure this by recording the calories I intake daily , and using a pedometer to see how many steps I take daily, which then converts into the calories I have burnt. The outcomes I expect is to lose at most ten pounds, get better at the sport basketball, and I…

Children who’s norms involve sitting in front of the television watching Netflix while eating a McDonalds happy meal, have quickly raised the national average with a percentage of adolescents (age twelve to nineteen) who are obese, being eighteen, (in increase in 1980’s low five percent). Children ages six to eleven years old have increased eleven percent from 1980’s seven percent. And young children age’s two to five have an obesity percentage of twelve percent. Childhood obesity has more than doubled, and quadrupled in adolescents in the past thirty years, leaving one third of both children and adolescents obese by 2012. Childhood obesity is now the number one health concern in American parents, ahead of both drug and alcohol abuse. The question on everyone’s mind is why are American children overweight and unhealthy? What is different about the 21st century that has caused a spike in obesity? There are multiple theories, reasons and answers to those questions, one being, with rapid technological advances in a fast paced society (increasing as each generation passes) values are replaced and lost. Exercise is replaced by video games, and fruit is replaced by cakes and cookies. Along with genetic factors, the truth is obesity is caused by lack of physical activity and unhealthy eating/eating habits and patterns (or a combination of both). Fast food has no longer become a treat, but an everyday eat…

The eating habits of America can be summed up in three words. “Fat,” “Fast,” and “Food.” Fast-food companies are the leading problem in the rapid growth of our nation's obesity problem. Costs of fast-food consumption were nearly $164.8 billion dollars in 2010, and the constant and excessive eating that has taken place at fast-food establishments over the last few decades has, and will continue to, result in obesity. Public health is supposed to be number one concern in today's society, however, most Americans have such busy schedules and are so overcommitted that they don’t have enough time to make food at home. For years, Fast-food chains have taken advantage of…
