Pessimism And Optimism Essay
Pessimism and optimism are generally seen as two major things which drive human emotion. A depressed person is usually associated with pessimism and a happy person with optimism. However, that is not always the case. A perfectly happy person could have pessimistic thought and a depressed person usually tries to be optimistic of the future. Pessimism, however, is much easier to deal with. It is much easier to swallow pride when an event goes wrong just as one predicted. On the contrary, one is pleasantly surprised when an event renders positive results, regardless of previous predictions. Such as dealing with a break up or revealing feelings to another person. A pessimist prepares for the worst. In their mind there is no that the person they like will like them back and thus they are able to rein back their emotions. Once they have told the other person and that person responded in the negative the pessimist will be able to walk away unconcerned because they were right. If the other person would have returned the feelings the pessimist can smile, giggle and thank the skies they were wrong. Now, after the revealing of the feelings the relationship aspect starts to kick in. It is much easier for the pessimist to assume that their partner forgot birthdays, important dates, and anniversaries then to be disappointed when they do not receive anything. Additionally it is easy to assume a relationship will end at any moment and then be surprised when an engagement rings pops up. In contrast it is much easier to walk away from someone if one knew it would never last. Surprise is much easier to accept and embrace then disappointment and bitterness. Pessimism is simply looking at the half empty bottle of tequila and then being excited because a friend walked in with 3 full

The Pursuit of Happyness by Chris Gardner and Quincy Troupe entails the life story of Christopher Gardner. Like other books that movies are made from, The Pursuit of Happyness movie was very different than the book. In the movie, Gardner starts out in his late twenties; he lives with his wife, Linda, and his son Chris Gardner Jr., who was five-years-old at the beginning of the movie. The book starts out very differently; Gardner is just three-years-old and living in a foster home (Gardner and Troupe 15-16). By the end of the book, Gardner Jr. is barely four-years-old. The major difference between the book and the movie is that Gardner experiences physical, mental, and sexual abuse.…

Remaining positive has always held an important role in my life. I strive to find positives in every negative situation, and remember that I can always learn something from it. How does Huxley associate ideas of happiness with consumption and a society's well-being? In the twisted era of Brave New World, Huxley has created what seems to be a false symbol of universal happiness. In Brave New World it is suggested that the price of universal happiness will be achieved with the sacrifice of major treasured aspects within our culture, such as: family, freedom, love, childhood, and home. Happiness in this dystopian novel is achieved through the mass consumption of producer goods. While some people would argue that true happiness comes from internal pleasure, rather than material possessions; Huxley presents us a society that solely bases its well-being on the feeling of pleasure associated with the consumption of materials.…

I think that the whole reconstruction era went just the way it was supposed to. Just to think that something so small of a change could have rewritten history for bad or for good. I think that if lincoln could have carried out his plan then we would live in a completley different world then what we do today. I we have had enforced the laws as hard as we could have then the south could might as well of risen back up for another war. And what if we lost this time? We could might as well be living in a country with segregation and or a communist country if marshall law was declared. Which means that all industries would be owned by the government. Another scenario would be that we had a country divided into two halves like Korea with slaves crossing…
