leadership style clearly he is lacking fundamental interpersonal skills if former employees feel so strongly as to write a book. An effective leader should have strong interpersonal skills so that they are able to cultivate strong relationships with current and former employees. If Popoff had strong interpersonal skills he would have been able to easily avoid having a book written about all of the inside secrets from his organization. So even though some may argue that Popoff is an effective leader he lacks basic leadership attributes that negatively affect his organization.
Popoff’s shortcomings in his leadership techniques shows that he is unable to effectively communicate with his employees. As we have learned having a positive in-group relationship with one’s supervisor leads to better integration, enhanced feelings of perceived organizational support, which in turn strengthen commitment (textbook citation, 114). Because Popoff lacks the ability to create positive relationships with his employees they are less committed to his organization which is why Sanchez created a book to expose Popoff. Since Popoff was unable to create strong bonds amongst his employees the organization suffered from it. Popoff also has been exposed several times for being a fraud yet he has not changed his tactics. Effective leaders are able to constantly change as society progresses. However, Popoff has been using the same techniques to continue tricking others. If he were an effective leader he would have changed his tactics to avoid being exposed again.
